Henry A. Sharpe
Henry Augustus Sharpe (June 10, 1848 – August 10, 1919) was an American jurist who served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama from 1898 to 1904. Early life, education, and career Born in Alabama,"Judge H. A. Sharpe", ''Pittsburgh Daily Post'' (August 12, 1919), p. 7. he was "educated in the common schools", and received an LL.B. from Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tennessee, in 1870. Sharpe "began his studies for the law at an early age and soon won prominence in his profession". The Supreme Court of Alabama is the highest court in the state of Alabama. The court consists of a chief justice and eight associate justices. Each justice is elected in partisan elections for staggered six-year terms. The Supreme Court is housed in the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. Cumberland University
Cumberland University is a private university in Lebanon, Tennessee. It was founded in 1842. The campus's current historic buildings were constructed between 1892 and 1896. History 1842-1861 The university was founded by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1842 and received its Tennessee state charter in 1843. In 1847 Cumberland Presbyterian church leaders added a law school, the first in Tennessee and the first west of the Appalachian Mountains, and in 1854 a school of theology was begun.
