Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht
Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located on the island of IJsselmonde, and borders with Zwijndrecht, Ridderkerk, and the Noord River (with Alblasserdam and Papendrecht on the other side). The jurisdiction of the municipality covers an area of of which is water. The municipality comprises no other population centres. Name Until 1855, the town was known as ''Hendrik-Ido-Schildmanskinderen-Ambacht en de Oostendam''. Then it merged with Sandelingen-Ambacht and its full name for a period of time was said to be ''Hendrik-Ido-Oostendam-Schildmanskinderen-Groot-en-Klein-Sandelingen-Ambacht''. IJsselmonde (island)
IJsselmonde is a river island in the Netherlands, between the Nieuwe Maas, Noord River, Noord and Oude Maas branches rivers of the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta, Rhine-Meuse delta in the province of South Holland. The city of Rotterdam now occupies most of the northern part of the island and includes the eponymous former village of IJsselmonde (village), IJsselmonde, once a separate community. Florus "Flor" Silvester (30 August 1923 in Rotterdam – 2 December 2008 in Dordrecht), sometimes misspelled as Silvestre, was a Dutch graphic designer, illustrator, painter, and sculptor. Silverster's designs won him the Eurostar for packaging and the Golden Nut. He designed and illustrated many Dutch books and designed some classic posters. Flor Silvester studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy, then known as the Volksindustrieschool or the Rotterdamse Academie. Among his teachers were Aart Glansdorp, David Bautz, and Kees van Roemburg. Sandelingen Ambacht is a polder about 12 km southeast of Rotterdam and a neighborhood of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, South Holland. Papendrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, at the crossing of the River Beneden Merwede and the Noord River. The municipality had a population of in and covers an area of of which is water. Although Papendrecht is first mentioned in documents dating back to 1105, it remained a small settlement until the 1950s. In the 1960s its development accelerated and almost its entire area is now urbanized. It is, however, known for its 180-year-old linden tree by the river. Ridderkerk () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of in and covers an area of of which is covered by water. Zwijndrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located in the province of South Holland, at the southern tip of the island of IJsselmonde, and at the confluence of the rivers Oude Maas, Beneden-Merwede, and Noord. Noord River
The Noord ("North") is a short tidal river in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The Noord starts at the city of Dordrecht where the Beneden Merwede river forks into the Oude Maas and the Noord. It joins the Lek at the city of Ridderkerk and Kinderdijk, and the combined stream is thereafter known as the Nieuwe Maas. The distance is about nine kilometres. The direction of its water flow depends on the tides. The Noord River separates IJsselmonde island from the Alblasserwaard mainland to the east. Bart Berman
Bart Berman ( he, ברט ברמן; born 29 December 1938) is a Dutch-Israeli pianist and composer, best known as an interpreter of Franz Schubert and 20th-century music. Career Bart Berman studied piano with Jaap Spaanderman at a predecessor of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and complemented his piano education with Theo Bruins and a master class by Alfred Brendel. In 1978 he moved to Israel. As a soloist Berman was awarded the Dutch Prize of Excellence, the first prize in the Gaudeamus Competition for interpreters of contemporary music, the Friends of the Concertgebouw Award and four first prizes at competitions for young soloists.
