Association Sportive Hilmi-Sport ( ar, حلمي سبور) was a football club based in Beirut, Lebanon. Established in 1936, they won two Lebanese FA Cups in 1939 and 1940, and were finalists in the inaugural Lebanese FA Cup in 1938. History Hilmi-Sport was founded in 1936 by Khalil Hilmi, with Imre Zinger from Hungary appointed as the first coach. The club was known as "the Red Devils" (; ), and wore a red shirt with black shorts. Hilmi-Sport hosted several foreign teams, most notably Austrian clubs First Vienna and Admira Vienna, and Romanian club CFR Cluj, among others. In 1937–38 Hilmi-Sport won the Lebanese Second Division, and were runners up in the Lebanese FA Cup. They won the FA Cup twice in a row: in 1938–39 and 1939–40. L'Orient-Le Jour
''L'Orient-Le Jour'' () is a leading French-language daily newspaper in Lebanon. History ''L'Orient-Le Jour'' was first published on 15 June 1971, following the merger of two French language Lebanese dailies, ''L'Orient'' (founded in Beirut in 1924 by Gabriel Khabbaz and Georges Naccache) and ''Le Jour'' (founded in 1934 by Michel Chiha). Between 1970 and 1975 one of the contributors was Samir Frangieh. During the Lebanese Civil War the paper was closed down by the occupying Syrian Army for a brief period in 1976 but the paper resumed publication after. Lebanon National Football Team
The Lebanon national football team,french: Équipe du Liban de football controlled by the Lebanese Football Association (LFA), have represented Lebanon in association football since their inception in 1933. The squad is governed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) continentally, and FIFA worldwide. While Lebanon have yet to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, they have qualified three times to the AFC Asian Cup: they first participated in 2000, when they hosted the event. Lebanon's main venue is the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium in Beirut; however they also play in other locations such as the Saida Municipal Stadium in Sidon. Salah Falah
Salah Falah ( ar, صلاح فلاح) was a Lebanese football player, coach, and referee. Falah played as a midfielder for the Lebanon national team in their first official international match. Playing career Falah played for Hilmi-Sport, DPHB, and Sagesse during the 1940s. In 1934 the midfielder captained the Lebanon national team in their first unofficial match, against Romanian club CA Timișoara (T.A.C.). Falah also represented Lebanon in their first official international match, in 1940 against Mandatory Palestine. Managerial and referee career In 1946–47 Falah coached Sagesse while a player. 1940 Mandatory Palestine V Lebanon Football Match
The 1940 association football match between the national teams of Mandatory Palestine and Lebanon was the latter's first official international match, and the former's last before they became the Israel national team after 1948. The match took place on 27 April 1940 at the Maccabiah Stadium in Tel Aviv. Officiated by John Blackwell of the British Army, the game was watched by 10,000 spectators and ended in a 5–1 victory for the home side. Mandatory Palestine scored in the second minute of the game, doubling their lead 10 minutes later with a penalty kick. Two more goals by the home side meant the first half ended 4–0. Mandatory Palestine's forced substitution at half-time due to injury hampered their control of the game and in the fifth minute of the second half, Lebanese forward Camille Cordahi scored to become Lebanon's first official international goalscorer. Lebanese Second Division
The Lebanese Second Division ( ar, الدوري اللبناني الدرجة الثانية) is the second division of Lebanese football. Established in 1933, it is controlled by the Lebanese Football Association. The 12 teams that participate in the league play each other twice, once at home and once away, with the champions and the second placed team qualifying to the Lebanese Premier League to replace the bottom two teams. History Salam Achrafieh won the inaugural edition of the Second Division, in 1933–34, after beating Ararad 2–0 in the final.
