Hell-On
''Hell-On'' is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Neko Case, released by record label ''Anti-'' on June 1, 2018. It was largely recorded in Stockholm, and Case co-produced six of the album's twelve tracks with Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. Overview The album was recorded during a tumultuous period in Case's life. Already dealing with serious problems caused by obsessed stalkers, her farmhouse residence in Vermont was destroyed in a fire while she was in Sweden working on the album, leaving her homeless. Recording and being away from home during this time helped her not dwell on these problems and allowed her to focus her energy on something positive. Case promoted the album by touring with Ray LaMontagne. Cover art Fans and critics have speculated that the fire in the album's cover art represents the fire that destroyed Case's Vermont home, but she has said this was actually completely coincidental. Neko Case
Neko Richelle Case (; born September 8, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and member of the Canadian indie rock group the New Pornographers. Case has a powerful, untrained contralto voice, which has been described by contemporaries and critics as a "flamethrower," "a powerhouse hichseems like it might level buildings," "a 120-mph fastball," and a "vocal tornado". Critics also note her idiosyncratic, "cryptic," "imagistic" lyrics, and credit her as a significant figure in the early 21st-century American revival of the tenor guitar. Björn Yttling
Björn Daniel Arne Yttling (born 16 October 1974 in Umeå, Sweden) is a Swedish music producer, songwriter, and musician. His production and songwriting credits include Lykke Li, Chrissie Hynde, Primal Scream, Franz Ferdinand, Sahara Hotnights, Anna Ternheim. Yttling is the bassist of the indie rock trio Peter Bjorn and John. He is also a co-founder of the label and artist collective INGRID and a member of the band LIV. Biography Early life Yttling was raised in Norsjö and started to create and record music at the age of eight. He moved to Västerås to attend a high school with a music programme. ''case/lang/veirs'' is the self-titled debut album by Canadian-American supergroup case/lang/veirs which consists of Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs. The album was recorded in November 2015 and released June 17, 2016. Reception The group's self-titled debut album received "ecstatic reviews". ''Pitchfork'' reviewer Laura Snapes noted its strong musicianship and use of natural imagery. Snapes acknowledged comparisons to the 1987 album '' Trio'' from Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris, but said that unlike ''Trio'' it was unlikely to be followed up with a second album, and lang herself called it a "one-off record". Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean. While weighted means generally behave in a similar fashion to arithmetic means, they do have a few counterintuitive properties, as captured for instance in Simpson's paradox. Standard Score
In statistics, the standard score is the number of standard deviations by which the value of a raw score (i.e., an observed value or data point) is above or below the mean value of what is being observed or measured.
