Helena Bergman ( Jansson, born 28 August 1985) is a Swedish orienteer who became World Champion in the sprint distance in Miskolc, Hungary in 2009. She lives in Stockholm and competes for OK Ravinen. Orienteering
Orienteering is a group of sports that require navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain whilst moving at speed. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find control points. Originally a training exercise in land navigation for military officers, orienteering has developed many variations. Among these, the oldest and the most popular is foot orienteering. For the purposes of this article, foot orienteering serves as a point of departure for discussion of all other variations, but almost any sport that involves racing against a clock and requires navigation with a map is a type of orienteering. Junior World Orienteering Championships
The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) are an annual orienteering competition. They were first held in 1990. Entry is open to national teams aged 20 and below as of 31 December in the year of competition. Representative countries must be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). History An international junior match was arranged first time in 1983 in Ry, Denmark, and then in 1984 ( Hartberg, Austria) and 1985 ( Font-Romeau, France). Female (symbol: ♀) is the sex of an organism that produces the large non-motile ova (egg cells), the type of gamete (sex cell) that fuses with the male gamete during sexual reproduction. Gustav Bergman (orienteer)
Gustav Bergman (born 4 December 1990) is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He won a bronze medal in the middle distance at the 2013 World Orienteering Championships. He was born in Stockholm, represents OK Ravinen, and is married to Helena Jansson. At the 2016 World Orienteering Championships in Strömstad he won a bronze medal in relay with the Swedish team, along with Fredrik Bakkman and William Lind, as well as a bronze medal in the mixed sprint relay. At the 2019 World Orienteering Championships in Østfold he won a silver medal at the middle distance and a gold medal in the relay with the Swedish team, along with Johan Runesson and Emil Svensk. OK Ravinen is a Swedish orienteering club in Nacka founded in 1950. Its house is located in Nackareservatet near Källtorpssjön. It has won the Tiomila relay in 1977, 1979, 1981 and the women's relay in 1979, 1980 and 1981. Its team came third in Tiomila in 1958. International Orienteering Federation
The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) is the international governing body of the sport of orienteering. The IOF head office is located in Karlstad, Sweden. The IOF governs four orienteering disciplines: foot orienteering, mountain bike orienteering, ski orienteering, and trail orienteering.
