Heinz Nawratil
Heinz Gottfried Nawratil (18 June 1937 in Suchdol nad Odrou, Czechoslovakia – 15 May 2015) was a German lawyer, legal author and human rights activist. After World War II Nawratil settled in Bavaria, West Germany, where he grew up in Miesbach. He studied law, earned a doctorate and worked as a civil law notary beginning in 1970. He was awarded the Förderpreis of the »Stiftung der Deutschen Gemeinden und Gemeindeverbände zur Förderung der Kommunalwissenschaften« in 1965. Suchdol Nad Odrou
Suchdol nad Odrou (german: Zauchtenthal, Zauchtel) is a market town in Nový Jičín District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,700 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Kletné is an administrative part of Suchdol nad Odrou. History The first written mention of Suchdol is from 1257. The village was founded by Slavic settlers in the early 13th century. The population of German nationality gradually prevailed. In the 18th century, 280 inhabitants left for Herrnhut, where they restored the Moravian Church and established mission settlements around the world. Ullstein Verlag
The ''Ullstein Verlag'' was founded by Leopold Ullstein in 1877 at Berlin and is one of the largest publishing companies of Germany. It published newspapers like '' B.Z.'' and ''Berliner Morgenpost'' and books through its subsidiaries ''Ullstein Buchverlage'' and ''Propyläen''. The newspaper publishing branch was taken over by Axel Springer AG in 1956. History On 14 July 1877 Leopold Ullstein purchased the ''Neue Berliner Tageblatt'' newspaper, a subsidiary of the liberal ''Berliner Tageblatt'' published by Rudolf Mosse, and on 1 January 1878 converted it into the ''Berliner Zeitung'' (''B.Z.''). The Institute of Contemporary History (''Institut für Zeitgeschichte'') in Munich was conceived in 1947 under the name ''Deutsches Institut für Geschichte der nationalsozialistischen Zeit'' ("German Institute of the History of the National Socialist Era"). Founded by the German government and the State of Bavaria at the suggestion of the Allied Forces, it was established in 1949 and renamed in 1952.
