Heinrich Greif Prize
The Heinrich Greif Prize (German: ''Heinrich-Greif-Preis'') was an East German state award bestowed on individuals for contribution to the state's cinema and television industry. History The prize was awarded by the East German Ministry of Culture for "outstanding achievements in Socialist-Realist cinema and television" and was presented annually to directors, cinematographers, writers and other filmmakers who were recognized for creating valued works in the field. It had three classes, and originally could be bestowed only in collective, to a group of producers. Since 1959, awards for single persons were also granted. The recipients were given a silver medal, a diploma and a sum of money, which varied from 7,500 East German Mark to 20,000. Since 1973, the medals were no longer made of silver. Günter Reisch
Günter Reisch (24 November 1927 – 24 February 2014) was a German film director and screenwriter. He served in the German Army during the last stage of World War II. On 20 April 1944 he became a member of the Nazi Party. After his release from an American POW camp, he returned to Potsdam in the Soviet occupation zone and joined the Free German Youth and later the Socialist Unity Party of Germany. He started working with theater and film and became one of East Germany's most prominent film makers. He made 20 films, including the two '' Karl Liebknecht films''. His 1978 film ''Anton the Magician'' was entered into the 11th Moscow International Film Festival. Orders, Decorations, And Medals Of East Germany
Following the 1949 establishment of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) the new state prohibited the wearing of all pre-1945 German decorations and created a new system of awards inspired in part by those of the USSR. Lothar Warneke (15 September 1936 – 5 June 2005) was a German film director, screenwriter and actor. His 1977 film ''The Incorrigible Barbara'' was entered into the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1981 film '' Our Short Life'' was entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. Günther Simon
Günther Simon (11 May 1925 – 25 June 1972) was an East German actor. Biography Early life A bank clerk's son, Simon attended an acting school already in '' Gymnasium''. At the age of 16, he was sent to a premilitary training camp of the Hitler Youth and then drafted to the Reich Labour Service. He volunteered to join the paratroopers in August 1943. He was captured by American troops near Normandy and shipped to a POW camp in Colorado, where he acted in the camp's makeshift theater. Breakthrough After returning home in 1947, Simon took private acting lessons with Karl Meixner in the Hebbel Theater in Berlin. He made his debut on stage in the Municipal Theater of Köthen in 1948, in a production of Dmitry Scheglov's ''The Storm''. Helga Schubert
Helga Schubert (pseudonym for Helga Helm, born 7 January 1940 in Berlin) is a German psychologist and author. Life Helga Schubert is a daughter of a librarian, who was also active in economics, and of a Gerichtsassessor who died as a soldier in 1941; she grew up in East Berlin. Schubert completed her ''Reifeprüfung'' (secondary school examination) and afterwards worked for a year on the assembly line in an industrial plant in Berlin. From 1958 to 1963, she studied psychology at Humboldt University and obtained a diploma in psychology. From 1963 to 1977, she was a full-time clinical psychologist; until 1973, she worked in adult psychotherapy. Günther Rücker
Günther Rücker (February 2, 1924 - February 24, 2008) was a German writer, playwright and film director. Rücker won several awards for his work, including the National Prize of the GDR and the Prix Italia. Rücker was born at Reichenberg (Liberec), and studied at the Theaterhochschule Leipzig.
