Heilmann
Heilmann is a German language surname. It can be tracked to early 16th-century Protestant families in south-west Germany (various locations); In France, it has spread around 1545 to Mulhouse (Mülhausen in German), a city now in the Alsace region. Harry Heilmann
Harry Edwin Heilmann (August 3, 1894 – July 9, 1951), nicknamed "Slug", was an American baseball player and radio announcer. He played professional baseball for 19 years between 1913 and 1932, including 17 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers (1914, 1916–1929) and Cincinnati Reds (1930, 1932). He was a play-by-play announcer for the Tigers for 17 years from 1934 to 1950. Heilmann won four American League batting championships, securing the honors in 1921, 1923, 1925 and 1927. He appeared in 2,147 major league games, including 1,525 games as a right fielder and 448 as a first baseman and compiled a career batting average of .342, the 12th highest in major league history, and third highest among right-handed batters. Heilmann Locomotive
The Heilmann locomotives were a series of three experimental steam-electric locomotives produced in the 1890s for the French Chemins de Fer de l'Ouest (CF de l'Ouest). A prototype was built in 1894 and two larger locomotives were built in 1897. These locomotives used electric transmission, much like later-popular diesel-electric locomotives and various other self powered locomotives. La Fusée Electrique In 1890 registered a patent (France №. 207055) for a self powered electric vehicle; the design was intended to eliminate the unbalanced oscillatory moments and "hammer blow" caused by the cranked action of a conventional mechanical steam locomotive. His design used a balanced steam engine to drive the locomotive via an electrical transmission (an electrical generator driving electric motors via controlling rheostats and switches). Lutz Heilmann (born 7 September 1966 in Zittau, East Germany) is a German politician of the left-wing politics, left-wing party The Left (Germany), Die Linke. He was elected to the Bundestag in the 2005 German federal election, 2005 federal election as a member of the party list in Schleswig-Holstein. Shortly thereafter it was revealed that he had worked for the Stasi (the East Germany, East German secret police) from 1985 to 1990. Jakob Heilmann
Jakob Heilmann (21 August 1846 in Geiselbach, Aschaffenburg County (Lower Franconia) – 15 February 1927 in Munich) was a German contractor. Son of a glazier, Heilmann attended the construction school in Munich and graduated with the exam as a master builder. Since 1866, he was into railway construction and in 1871 established the builders J. Heilmann in Regensburg. In 1892, his son-in-law, the young architect Professor Max Littmann (1862-1931) joined him, so the construction company of Heilmann & Littmann KG (after 1897 GmbH) came into existence. The real estate business was taken care by the Heilmann'sche Immobilien-Gesellschaft AG and several other related companies. Gerhard Heilmann
Gerhard Heilmann (later sometimes spelt "Heilman") (25 June 1859 – 26 March 1946) was a Danish artist and paleontologist who created artistic depictions of ''Archaeopteryx'', ''Proavis'' and other early bird relatives apart from writing the 1926 book '' The Origin of Birds'', a pioneering and influential account of bird evolution. Heilmann lacked a formal training in science although he studied medicine briefly before shifting to art. His ideas on bird evolution were first written in Danish in the ''Dansk Ornitologisk Tidsskrift''. Heilmann received little help and often got considerable opposition from Danish professional zoologists of the time and he in turn often made dismissive remarks on the ideas of some of the established scientists of the time. Jean-Gaspard Heilmann
Jean-Gaspard Heilmann (c. 1718 – 27 September 1760) was an 18th-century French painter, author of popular landscapes, historical scenes and fine portraits. He was the first Mulhouse painter who enjoyed a certain notoriety in Paris. Biography Born in Mulhouse, from a Mulhouse family documented since the 16th century, an orphan at a very young age, he was formed in Schaffhausen by the painter Hans Deggeller, then at Basel (Switzerland). Noticed by the cardinal of Tencin, he followed him to Rome and executed many commissions for him. The French Ambassador to Rome took him to Paris in 1742. Heilmann lived there until his death and connected with the engraver Jean-Georges Wille and François Boucher, first painter of king Louis XV. He died in Paris in 1760 at the age of 42. Heilmann & Littmann was a leading German contracting business. It was founded in 1871 by Jakob Heilmann (1846-1927) in Regensburg as "Baugeschäft J. Heilmann" (J. Heilmann building company), and, by 1876, specialized on railway construction, later on in building construction. In 1892, the architect Max Littmann (1862-1931), Heilmann's son-in-law, joined the company, thus forming an ordinary partnership ("Offene Handelsgesellschaft Heilmann & Littmann"). In 1897, Richard Reverdy became another partner and managing director, and the company was transformed into a limited liability company, specialising on the construction of theaters and other monumental structure, e.g. the present-day Munich Hofbräuhaus was erected during the years 1896 and 1897 by Heilmann & Littmann.
