Heidi Soulsby
Heidi Soulsby is a British politician from the island of Guernsey. She has been a deputy of the States of Guernsey since the 2012 Guernsey general election and is the First female Deputy Chief Minister of Guernsey. Education Soulsby graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Geography from King's College London. Political career She was elected to the States of Guernsey in 2012 and 2016. She founded the Guernsey Partnership of Independents along with Gavin St Pier and Lyndon Trott. She received the second most votes in the 2020 Guernsey general election. Personal life Soulsby lives in Saint Martin with her husband Phil. Saint Martin (Guernésiais and French Saint Martin; historically Saint-Martin-de-la-Bellouse) is a parish in Guernsey, The Channel Islands. The islands lie in the English Channel between Great Britain and France. The postal code for street addresses in this parish begins with GY4. The old Guernésiais nickname for people from Saint Martin is ''dravans''. In 1883, Pierre-Auguste Renoir spent the summer in Guernsey, with a varied landscape of beaches, cliffs and bays, where he created fifteen paintings in little over a month. Most of these feature ''Moulin Huet'', a bay in Saint Martin. These paintings were the subject of a set of commemorative postage stamps issued by the Bailiwick of Guernsey in 1983. The 2020 Guernsey general election took place on 7 October 2020 to elect 38 members of the States of Guernsey. Originally scheduled to be held in June 2020, it was delayed a year to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic before being brought forward to its final date.
