Hedvig Eleonora Parish ( sv, Hedvig Eleonora församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship. History The parish was formed on 17 April 1672, by an outbreak from the Holmkyrkan Parish (''Holmkyrkans församling''). Until 1737, the parish was also called the Ladugårdsland Parish (''Ladugårdslands församling'') and has also been called the Östermalm Parish (''Östermalms församling''). In 1724 and 1749, the ''Borgerskapets änkhus församling'' and ''Hedvig Eleonora fattighus församling'' broke out, respectively. In 1819, the ''Djurgårdens landsförsamling'' broke out, but returned in 1868. On 1 May 1906, Engelbrekt Parish and Oscar Parish were broken out. Hedvig Eleonora Church ( sv, Hedvig Eleonora kyrka) is a church in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is located at Östermalm and belongs to the Church of Sweden and is parish church for Hedvig Eleonora Parish in the Diocese of Stockholm. The church was consecrated on 21 August 1737 and is named after the Swedish Queen Hedvig Eleonora (1636–1715), wife of King Charles X of Sweden. Hedvig Eleonora Church is an octagonal church. Engelbrekt Parish ( sv, Engelbrekts församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship. History Engelbrekt Parish was formed on 1 May 1906 (by decision of 15 April 1904) through an outbreak of Hedvig Eleonora Parish. Royal Stables (Sweden)
The Royal Stables ( sv, Kungliga Hovstallet) is the mews (i.e. combined stables and carriage house) of the Swedish Monarchy which provides both the ceremonial transport for the Swedish Royal Family during state events and festive occasions and their everyday transportation capacity. The Royal Stables date from 1535, and were originally built on Helgeandsholmen, close to Stockholm Palace. The Royal Stables are today located just behind Strandvägen in Östermalm in central Stockholm, Sweden. The head of the Royal Stables is the Crown Equerry. Stockholm Music Museum
The Stockholm Music Museum was founded in 1899 (then named ”Musikhistoriska museet”), inspired by an exhibition of theatre and music which was part of the great Stockholm art and industry exhibition of 1897. Via donations and appeals for gifts around 200 musical instruments and an amount of archive material concerning the history of music and theatre were gathered. The new museum was opened to the general public in 1901. In 1932 the museum, in the form of a trust, was associated with the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and received a state grant. The state became increasingly responsible for the museum, which in 1981 became part of a new public body–The Swedish National Collections of Music. It reopened in 2002 after a long period of closure, and was awarded the title of the best museum of Stockholm in 2005. Royal Dramatic Theatre
The Royal Dramatic Theatre ( sv, Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern, colloquially ''Dramaten'') is Sweden's national stage for "spoken drama", founded in 1788. Around one thousand shows are put on annually on the theatre's five running stages. The theatre has been at its present location in the Art Nouveau building at Nybroplan, Stockholm, since 1908. The theatre was built by the architect Fredrik Lilljekvist. Famous artists like Carl Milles and Carl Larsson were involved in making the decorations, and some of the interior decorations were made by Prince Eugen. Strandvägen
Strandvägen is a waterfront on Östermalm in central Stockholm, Sweden. Completed just in time for the Stockholm World's Fair 1897, it quickly became known as one of the most prestigious addresses in town. Stretching 1 km (3.500 ft) east from Nybroplan, Strandvägen is intercepted by (west to east) Arsenalsgatan, Nybrogatan, Sibyllegatan, Artillerigatan, Skeppargatan, Grevgatan, Styrmansgatan, Grev Magnigatan, Torstenssonsgatan, Banérgatan, Narvavägen, Djurgårdsbron, Storgatan, Ulrikagatan, and Oxenstiernsgatan.
