Engelbrekt Parish ( sv, Engelbrekts församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship. History Engelbrekt Parish was formed on 1 May 1906 (by decision of 15 April 1904) through an outbreak of Hedvig Eleonora Parish. The parish has composed its own pastorship since 1 May 1906.} Location Engelbrekt Parish includes covers an area from the northern tip of Ålkistan, the eastern tip of Värtahamnen and the southern tip of Stureplan. Engelbrekt Church
Engelbrekt Church ( sv, Engelbrektskyrkan) is a protected church located in the Lärkstaden area of Stockholm, Sweden. Its located at Östermalm and belongs to the Church of Sweden and is parish church for Engelbrekt Parish in the Diocese of Stockholm. It was designed by architect Lars Israel Wahlman in the National Romantic style and completed in 1914. It is one of the largest churches in Stockholm, with 1,400 seats. In the spirit of romantic nationalism, the church was named after Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson – a Swedish 15th century rebel leader and national hero. It was built atop a hill in the years 1910–14, after a design competition held in 1906. The Diocese of Stockholm ( sv, Stockholms stift) is a division of the Church of Sweden. Its cathedral is Storkyrkan in Stockholm's Old Town. The Parishes of the Church of Sweden ( sv, Svenska kyrkans församlingar) are subdivisions within the Church of Sweden that historically were called ''socken'' but nowadays are called ''församling''. Östermalm
Östermalm (; "Eastern city-borough") is a 2.56 km2 large district in central Stockholm, Sweden. With 71,802 inhabitants, it is one of the most populous districts in Stockholm. It is an extremely expensive area, having the highest housing prices in Sweden. History During the reign of the ruler of all of Scandinavia, king Eric of Pomerania in the early 15th century, a royal cowshed/barn was erected on the lands of the village Vädla. Hedvig Eleonora Parish ( sv, Hedvig Eleonora församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. History The parish was formed on 17 April 1672, by an outbreak from the Holmkyrkan Parish (''Holmkyrkans församling'').
