"Heaven" is a song by the English rock band the Psychedelic Furs, written by the band's lead vocalist Richard Butler and bassist Tim Butler. It was the first single from the band's fourth studio album, ''Mirror Moves'' (1984). As a single it reached the top 30 of the charts in the United Kingdom and peaked at number 41 in New Zealand. Release and reception Released in 1984, "Heaven" entered the UK Singles Chart in April 1984, peaked at number 29, and spent five weeks in the chart. The song reached number 41 in New Zealand. British filmmaker Tim Pope directed the song's official music video. AllMusic critic Bill Janovitz called it a "gorgeous pop song", and praised Richard Butler for being "remarkably expressive in his phrasing and in his extraordinary voice". The Psychedelic Furs
The Psychedelic Furs are a post-punk band founded in London in February 1977. Led by lead vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their music went through several phases, from an initially austere art rock sound, to later touching on new wave and hard rock. The band had several hits in their early career. In 1986, filmmaker John Hughes used their song "Pretty in Pink" for his film of the same name. They went on hiatus after they finished touring in 1992, but resumed in 2000 and continue to perform live. Nouvelle Vague (band)
Nouvelle Vague is a French cover band led by musicians Olivier Libaux and Marc Collin. Their name means "new wave" in French, and refers simultaneously to the French New Wave cinema movement of the 1960s, to the new wave music movement of the 1970s and 1980s, which provides many of the songs that the band covers, and to bossa nova (Portuguese for "new wave"), a musical style that the band frequently uses in its arrangements. The group's recordings and live performances have featured a large rotating cast of mostly female vocalists. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Face to Face is a punk rock band from Victorville, California, formed in 1991 by frontman Trever Keith, bassist Matt Riddle and drummer Rob Kurth. The band rose to fame with their 1995 album ''Big Choice'', featuring the radio hit " Disconnected" which received heavy rotation on KROQ radio in Los Angeles and appeared in the movies ''Tank Girl'' and ''National Lampoon's Senior Trip''. Ann Lennox (born 25 December 1954) is a Scottish singer-songwriter, political activist and philanthropist. Buffalo Tom is an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1986. Its principal members are guitarist Bill Janovitz, bassist Chris Colbourn, and drummer Tom Maginnis. The band's name is derived from the band Buffalo Springfield and the first name of the drummer. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song.
