Heaven (Eurovision Song)
Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Heaven" written by Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson and Magnús Þór Sigmundsson. The song was performed by Jónsi, who was internally selected by the Icelandic broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) in February 2004 to represent Iceland at the 2004 contest in Istanbul, Turkey. Jón Jósep Snæbjörnsson or Jónsi (born 1 June 1977) is an Icelandic singer and a former member of the band ''Í svörtum fötum'' ("In black clothing"). He represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 and finished 19th. Before Eurovision You're a Star RTÉ used the '' You're a Star'' talent contest to select the Irish entry for the Eurovision. The competition started on 16 November 2003. Emilíana Torrini (born 16 May 1977) is an Icelandic singer and songwriter. Birgitta Haukdal Brynjarsdóttir (born 28 July 1979), also known by her mononym Birgitta, is an Icelandic singer. She rose to domestic media prominence as the lead singer of pop band Írafár. Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson (born 24 December 1976 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic songwriter, music producer, and medical doctor, best known for having composed two Eurovision Song Contest entries for Iceland, "Heaven" by Jónsi in 2004 and " Valentine Lost" by Eiríkur Hauksson in 2007. He has also composed music for Chinese action film ''Wings Over Everest''. Personal life Sveinn resides in Sweden and Norway, and also works partly in Moscow, Russia.
