Heather Jackson
Heather Jackson (born April 24, 1984) is an American triathlete and track cyclist. She is the runner-up of the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship and the third-place finisher at the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. In 2009, she took third place in individual pursuit and omnium at the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships. Athletic career Growing up in Exeter, New Hampshire, from the age of 6, Jackson focused on playing ice hockey and soccer, attending Phillips Exeter Academy. Despite wanting to play both sports at the collegiate level, she would focus on hockey and play on the women's team at Princeton University, serving as a two-time captain. She excelled enough to try out for the under-22 national ice hockey team and was invited to train with the candidates for the team, but ultimately did not make the final team roster. Exeter is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 16,049 at the 2020 census, up from 14,306 at the 2010 census. XTERRA Triathlon
XTERRA is a series of cross triathlon races, i.e. three-sport races which include swimming, mountain biking, and trail running. The XTERRA Global Tour is owned and produced by XTERRA Sports Limited. The XTERRA race series is the best-known series of cross triathlons, and is considered by most to be the ''de facto'' world championship of the sport. It began in 1996 on the Hawaiian island of Maui as the ''Aquaterra'', and was later renamed the ''XTERRA''. Escape From Alcatraz (triathlon)
Escape from Alcatraz is the name for two different triathlons held in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The Escape from Alcatraz originated in 1981 as a private club event, beginning in San Francisco and ending in Marin County. The race split in 1983 with a separate commercial event open to the public, which is now an aquathlon (having dropped the biking section of a traditional triathlon) held on a shorter course entirely within San Francisco. However, a new public triathlon, also known by the name Escape from Alcatraz, is now run by IMG. The 2017 Ironman World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition held on October 14, 2017 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii that was won by Patrick Lange of Germany and Daniela Ryf of Switzerland.
