Heathcliff And The Catillac Cats
''Heathcliff'' ( ''Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats'', known as ''Les Entrechats'' in French) is a children's animated series that debuted on September 3, 1984. Produced by DIC Audiovisuel, it was the second animated series based on the '' Heathcliff'' comic strip (after Ruby-Spears' '' Heathcliff'' from 1980). 65 half-hour episodes aired in first-run syndication in the fall of 1984, followed by a second season of 21 episodes in 1985 ran in syndication until it ended in 1988. The Catillac Cats characters (identified in the end credits as ''Cats and Co.'') were created by Jean Chalopin and Bruno Bianchi. Mel Blanc, who provided the voice of Heathcliff in the Ruby-Spears series, reprised his role as the titular cat. George Gately
George Gately Gallagher (December 21, 1928 – September 30, 2001), better known as George Gately, was an American cartoonist, notable as the creator of the '' Heathcliff'' comic strip. Born in Queens Village, Queens, Gately came from a family of comics lovers. His father was an amateur doodler, and his elder brother John was also a cartoonist. He grew up and went to school in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Gately studied art at Pratt Institute. After graduating, he worked at an advertising agency for 11 years, but commercial art gave him little satisfaction. Seeing the success of his elder brother, George decided to enter the cartoon field. In 1957, he sold his first comic. He dropped his last name of Gallagher to avoid confusion with his brother. The Lexington Broadcast Services Company (first known as Lexington Broadcast Services and later known as LBS Communications) was a television production and syndication company formed on November 15, 1976, by advertising pioneer Henry Siegel, who, according to ''Advertising Age'', was "the man who built Lexington Broadcast Services into the nation's largest barter syndicator, and thus defined that segment of the TV ad business." History LBS was originally a unit of Grey Advertising, in order to develop products that were marketed for syndication. Jack Hanrahan (January 16, 1933 – April 28, 2008) was an American comedy writer. Biography Born January 16, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, he began writing cartoons for the ''Cleveland Press''. Cynthia Chenault (born January 5, 1937) is an American television actress and producer/writer active from the mid-1950s to the present. She used the screen name Cindy Robbins in her acting credits. The Catillac Cats is the name of a group of characters that starred in the secondary segment (officially billed ''Cats & Co.'' on the end credits) of the 1984 animated series of '' Heathcliff''. Most episodes revolve around Riff-Raff's get-rich-quick schemes or searches for food. Main characters The Gang The segment stars a group of cats who live in a junkyard.
