Hearts On Fire (Cut Copy Song)
"Hearts on Fire" is a song by Australian electronic music band Cut Copy, released in 2007 as the lead single from their second studio album, ''In Ghost Colours'' (2008). The song's chorus contains a small vocal sample from Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting for Tonight". A re-edited version of the song, produced by Tim Goldsworthy, was released on 5 July 2008 and served as the album version. Pitchfork Media named "Hearts on Fire" the seventh best track of 2008. Music video The music video, directed by Nagi Noda and shot on location in Japan, portrays a lovelorn frontman Dan Whitford suffering from a breakup. He is constantly followed by a rainy cloud hanging over his head, which represents his sadness. After time goes by (demonstrated by the growth of his dog), he finally lets go of the pain and continues his life without the rain following him, until the very end of the video during which he runs into his ex-girlfriend, causing the rain to resume. Cut Copy (sometimes stylised as Cut/Copy) are an Australian synth-pop band formed in 2001 by Dan Whitford (vocals, keyboards and guitar). Originally a home-recording project, the band now includes Tim Hoey (guitars), Ben Browning (bass guitar), and Mitchell Scott (drums). The band achieved breakthrough success in 2008 with their second album, ''In Ghost Colours'', which included well-known singles " Lights & Music" and " Hearts on Fire". Holy Ghost! is an American synthpop duo from Brooklyn, New York City. Founded in 2007, the duo consists of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel. History Millhiser and Frankel both grew up on the Upper West Side of New York City and attended Trevor Day School together. They were later part of a hip hop group called Automato. Automato's debut album was produced by James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy of DFA. According to Frankel, after the release of the album, Automato "kind of fell apart". Millhiser and Frankel kept working on music, their collaboration having already begun moving towards the alternative dance genre. The name Holy Ghost! was selected just before the pressing of their debut single "Hold On" in November 2007.
