Colonel Havilland Le Mesurier (1783 - 31 July 1813) was a British army officer. He was the eldestLe Mesurier-Foster, R. Commissary-General Havilland Le Mesurier (1758–1806) was a British merchant and commissary officer who also published on military matters.W. R. His parents were John Le Mesurier (1717–1793), hereditary Governor of Alderney, and his wife Martha (d. 1764). His brother was Paul Le Mesurier, an MP and Lord Mayor of London. He attended Winchester School from 1770 to 1771, before joining the business of his father and eldest brother. They ran a merchant house that profited from privateering in the American War of Independence. In 1782 he married Elizabeth Dobrée of Guernsey (died 1804). Salisbury ( ) is a cathedral city in Wiltshire, England with a population of 41,820, at the confluence of the rivers Avon, Nadder and Bourne. The city is approximately from Southampton and from Bath. Battle Of The Pyrenees
The Battle of the Pyrenees was a large-scale offensive (the author David Chandler recognises the 'battle' as an offensive) launched on 25 July 1813 by Marshal Nicolas Jean de Dieu Soult from the Pyrénées region on Emperor Napoleon’s order, in the hope of relieving French garrisons under siege at Pamplona and San Sebastián. After initial success the offensive ground to a halt in the face of increased allied resistance under the command of Arthur Wellesley, Marquess of Wellington. Soult abandoned the offensive on 30 July and headed toward France, having failed to relieve either garrison. The Battle of the Pyrenees involved several distinct actions. On 25 July, Soult and two French corps fought the reinforced British 4th Division and a Spanish division at the Battle of Roncesvalles.
