OOIOO
OOIOO is a Japanese experimental rock band. The four-piece ensemble was founded by Yoshimi P-We (also known as Yoshimio), the drummer and occasional trumpeter for Boredoms. The band's origin lie in a photo shoot that Yoshimi was asked to do for a magazine. She invited a few of her friends to join her, and they created a fake band for the shoot, which they later decided to make real. The band quickly gained attention by being the opening act for Sonic Youth in 1997 on their Japan tour. According to AllMusic's Kieran McCarthy "It's next to impossible to describe their sound, because — by design — it rarely follows consistent patterns". Some of their music has been described as having "a majestic ebb and flow that suggests natural wonders" or a "witchy, tribal side". Bloodthirsty Butchers
Bloodthirsty Butchers was a long-running indie rock and punk rock band from Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan. Although little-known in the West, they have contributed to two compilations on the Olympia, Washington based Yoyo label. The band has also released a split single with Rocket from the Crypt and a split EP with +/-. Japanese act Lost in Time named their band after a song from band's third album ''Lukewarm Wind''. The long-term members are Hideki Yoshimura (vocals and guitar), Masahiro Komatsu (drums), and Takeshi Imoriya (bass). Former Number Girl member Hisako Tabuchi joined as an additional guitarist in 2003. Frontman Hideki Yoshimura also played guitar for other Japanese indie acts such as Copass Grinderz and Discharming Man. On May 27, 2013, Hideki Yoshimura suddenly died of acute cardiac failure. Number Girl
was a rock band formed in Fukuoka, Japan in August, 1995 by guitarist and vocalist Shutoku Mukai. They first disbanded in 2002 following bassist Kentaro Nakao's departure from the band. Number Girl played fast, guitar-driven rock similar to the Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Hüsker Dü. Over the course of seven years their sound evolved greatly, serving as a basis for Mukai's post-Number Girl project, Zazen Boys. In February 2019, it was announced that the band would be reuniting to perform at Rising Sun Rock Festival 2019 in Ezo. Although the first day of the festival was cancelled and Number Girl did not perform, they had already announced a four-date Japanese tour by this time, beginning at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall on August 18.
