Hasjim Djalal is a former Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Canada, and the United Nations. Biography Djalal was born in Ampek Angkek, Bukittinggi, West Sumatera on 25 February 1934. He is an international law of the sea expert, and the former Chairman & President of the International Seabed Authority. He received his Masters of Law from the University of Virginia where he was the University's first Indonesian Student. Bukittinggi ( min, Bukiktinggi, Jawi: , formerly nl, Fort de Kock) is the third largest city in West Sumatra, Indonesia, with a population of 111,312 in 2010 and 121,028 in 2020, and an area of 25.24 km2. Dr. Dino Patti Djalal is a former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States. He resigned from his ambassador post in September 2013 to pursue a presidential primary bid.
