The is a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR-West) in Japan on limited express services such as the '' Kinosaki'' and '' Kounotori'' from Kyoto and Osaka since 12 March 2011. 287 series EMUs were introduced on ''Kuroshio'' services from the start of the revised timetable on 17 March 2012. A total of 97 vehicles were built. These consist of 46 vehicles for '' Kinosaki'', '' Kounotori'', ''Maizuru'', and ''Hashidate'' services, formed as seven 4-car sets and six 3-car sets, which will partially replace the ageing fleet of 86 183 series vehicles currently used on these services. The is a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR-West) in Japan on limited express services in the Kyoto and Osaka area since October 2015. The trains were converted from former dual-voltage (1,500 V DC and 20 kV AC) 683-2000 series EMUs formerly used on '' Shirasagi'' services and made surplus following the 14 March 2015 timetable revision. Operations The 289 series trains were initially introduced on 31 October 2015 on ''Hashidate'', '' Kinosaki'', '' Kounotori'' (formed as 4- or 4+3-car sets) and on ''Kuroshio'' services formed as 6- or 6+3-car sets services, displacing the remaining JNR-era 381 series EMUs. The was a Japanese limited express electric multiple unit (EMU) train type introduced in 1972 by Japanese National Railways (JNR). Following the privatization of JNR, the 183 series was operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and West Japan Railway Company (JR-West). The is a railway line on the Sea of Japan coast of central Japan. It is operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The long single track railway connects Tsuruga Station on the Hokuriku Main Line in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture and Higashi-Maizuru Station on the Maizuru Line in Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture. The city of Obama and the towns of Mihama, Wakasa, Ōi and Takahama are located in the central section of the line.
