Hasan Cihat Örter
Hasan Cihat Örter (born October 24, 1958) is a Turkish composer, progressive guitarist and arranger. Örter was very young when he first started playing the piano and violin. He then attended Emin Ongan's Turkish music lessons at Uskudar Musical Association, (Üsküdar Musiki Cemiyeti) in 1974. Örter has been described as an extremely versatile guitarist. He plays traditional Turkish music, but also plays jazz, classical, rock and metal. He can play a range of traditional Turkish instruments, as well as piano and violin. Using a fretless guitar he is able to produce sounds that are not possible on normal guitars. The glissandi sounds he is able to produce on a fretless guitar allow him to create sounds that are characteristic of traditional Turkish music. In music, a glissando (; plural: ''glissandi'', abbreviated ''gliss.'') is a glide from one pitch to another (). It is an Italianized musical term derived from the French ''glisser'', "to glide". In some contexts, it is distinguished from the continuous portamento. Some colloquial equivalents are slide, sweep (referring to the "discrete glissando" effects on guitar and harp, respectively), bend, smear, rip (for a loud, violent gliss to the beginning of a note), lip (in jazz terminology, when executed by changing one's embouchure on a wind instrument), plop, or falling hail (a glissando on a harp using the back of the fingernails). Emel Sayın (born 20 November 1945) is a Turkish singer and actress. Life She was born in Şarkışla district of Sivas Province on 20 November 1945, to an Albanian father who immigrated from Skopje, and a mother from Mardin. Her parents moved frequently and she had to attend primary and secondary schools in various cities such as Kayseri, Konya and Edirne. Finally she graduated from Teachers College of Çapa in Istanbul. However by then, she had already chosen a career in music. Emel Sayın married three times. Her first marriage was to İsmet Kasapoğlu in 1966. The couple divorced in 1975, but remarried a year later. Modern Folk Üçlüsü ("Modern Folklore Trio") is a Turkish music trio. As the name implies, their main source is Turkish folklore songs (Türkü). Early years The group was founded in July 1969 by Doğan Canku, Ahmet Kurtaran and Selami Karaibrahimgil. In the same year they accompanied Esin Afşar in her song ''Bebek''. In 1970, they began to produce their own records. In 1971 September two members of the group got married and they temporarily put a halt to their activities. Beginning by the end of 1972 however they resumed their activities. Their new LP of 1973 included arranged form of Turkish art music and an example of Western music as well as their conventional genre. Cura (instrument)
The cura () is a plucked string folk instrument from Turkey. It is the smallest and highest pitched member of the bağlama family of instruments. It is found in nearly every region of the country with varying exact dimensions, tunings, playing techniques, and names including ''dede sazi, parmak cura, üç telli cura, baglama curasi, and tanbura curasi''. The two other members of the bağlama family are the larger tambura and the largest divan sazi, which are one and two octaves lower than the cura, respectively. The instrument has three main parts, the bowl (''tekne''), the sound board (''göğüs''), and the neck (''sap''). The bowl is made from mulberry wood, juniper, beech, spruce, or walnut, the sound board made of spruce, and the neck is made of beech or juniper. The tuning pegs (''burgu'' literally screw).
