Harvie James Dorrance
Harvie James Dorrance (July 15, 1898 – November 15, 1961) was a farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Tisdale from 1934 to 1938 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Seaforth, Ontario, the son of James Dorrance and Ellen Hiller and was educated in McKillop township, Huron County. In 1921, Dorrance married Nina Kathleen Copeman. He served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. Tisdale (provincial Electoral District)
Tisdale was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, centered on the town of Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Created before the 4th Saskatchewan general election in 1917, this riding was dissolved and combined with the Melfort district (as Melfort-Tisdale) before the 12th Saskatchewan general election in 1952. It is now part of the constituencies of Melfort and Carrot River Valley. Another provincial electoral district in the same area called "Kelsey-Tisdale" existed from 1975 to 1995. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Seaforth (2021 population: 2,673) is a Southern Ontario community in the municipality of Huron East, in Huron County, Ontario, Canada. History Originally known as ''Four Corners'' and ''Steene's Corners'' after an early settler, much of the area of what is now Seaforth was acquired by brothers Christopher and George Sparling in anticipation of the construction of the Buffalo, Brantford and Goderich Railway. Developer James Patton of Barrie purchased the land and laid out a townsite in 1855. The name 'Seaforth' may be derived from the Scottish Seaforth Highlanders regiment or Loch Seaforth in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. A post office was established in Seaforth in 1859. The Municipality of Huron East is a Canadian municipality located in Huron County, Ontario. It was formed in 2001 as an amalgamation of the former Grey, McKillop and Tuckersmith townships with the town of Seaforth and village of Brussels, due to an Ontario-wide local government restructuring imposed by the government of that time. Huron County is a county of the province of Ontario, Canada. It is located on the southeast shore of its namesake, Lake Huron, in the southwest part of the province. The county seat is Goderich, also the county's largest community. Canadian Expeditionary Force
The Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) was the expeditionary field force of Canada during the First World War. It was formed following Britain’s declaration of war on Germany on 15 August 1914, with an initial strength of one infantry division. The division subsequently fought at Ypres on the Western Front, with a newly raised second division reinforcing the committed units to form the Canadian Corps. The CEF and corps was eventually expanded to four infantry divisions, which were all committed to the fighting in France and Belgium along the Western Front. A fifth division was partially raised in 1917, but was broken up in 1918 and used as reinforcements following heavy casualties. John Hewgill Brockelbank (June 24, 1897 - May 30, 1977) was a politician in Saskatchewan, Canada, who served as leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Born in Grey County, Ontario, Brockebank moved to Saskatchewan with his parents in 1911 to a homestead near North Battleford.
