Harry Ward (athlete)
Harry G. "Wu Fang" Ward (1900 – May 26, 1965) was an American college and professional athlete in the 1920s and 1930s. College career Football Ward teamed up with Halley Harding at Wilberforce University as a running back and placekicker. Called upon heavily during games, he was described in one account as a "consistent gainer" with "the speed of a Mercury." In 1925, Ward experienced a breakout season, running for 98 yards in a single quarter against Linden Center in Dayton, Ohio and scoring three touchdowns against Lincoln. He scored an additional three touchdowns against Kentucky State, gathering the attention of '' Pittsburgh Courier'', which stated "Ward is never completely stopped. Aside from his running, Ward is a deadly tackler, a good punter, a good passer, and is first on the interference." Harry Ward (born 13 June 1997 in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire) is a former professional English darts player who played in the Professional Darts Corporation events. Career He reached the final of the 2015 BDO World Youth Championships, losing 3–0 in the final to Colin Roelofs. In January 2019, Ward won a two-year PDC Tour Card by right on the first day of the event, beating Mark McGeeney 5–2 in the final. Ward won his first PDC title at the sixteenth Players Championship of 2019, beating Max Hopp 8–7 in the final at Barnsley Metrodome. Later in the year, he qualified for his first World Championship via PDC Pro Tour, he faced Latvian Madars Razma in the first round and in a very close match Ward won 3-2. In the second round, he lost 0-3 to Simon Whitlock. After the restart of the season due to Covid-19, Ward came through the qualifying rounds to earn a debut appearance in the World Series of Darts Finals. Harry Marshall Ward
Harry Marshall Ward (21 March 1854 – 26 August 1906), FRS, , was a British botanist, mycologist, and plant pathologist. Born in Hereford, the eldest child of Francis and Mary Marshall Ward, Harry Ward was educated at Lincoln Cathedral school. from c. 1864. He went on to scientific studies at the South Kensington Science and Art Department under Thomas Henry Huxley in 1874. Ward then attended first Owens College, Manchester, in 1875, and subsequently Christ's College, Cambridge, from 1876 to 1879. At Cambridge, Ward achieved a B.A. with First Class honours in the Natural Sciences Tripos. Ward's education at Cambridge was funded by a wealthy fellow student from South Kensington, Louis Lucas. He also studied with leading German botanists Julius von Sachs and Anton de Bary who at the time were way ahead of the English in the field of experimental botany. Harry Ward Leonard (February 8, 1861 – February 18, 1915) was an American electrical engineer and inventor. He is best known for his invention, the Ward Leonard motor control system. Equipment based on this invention remained in service into the 21st century. Early life and heritage Harry Ward Leonard was born on February 8, 1861, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ezra George Leonard and Henrietta Dana Ward. He was the fourth of their six children. He was a great great grandson of American Revolutionary War General Artemas Ward. In 1895, he was married to Carolyn Good in Geneva, Switzerland.
