Harpua
"Harpua" is a Phish song that was a staple of their live concerts, but has now become a rarity and has ''only'' been performed live. Its first appearance on an album was on ''Live Phish Volume 2'', a 2001 release featuring a concert from 1994. Though it follows the same basic structure in every performance (see The Divided Sky and You Enjoy Myself for other examples of songs in which variation occurs within a fixed structure), Trey Anastasio narrates a different story at every concert. The song's introduction is an a cappella "oom pah pah" melody sung by all members of the band. Live Phish Volume 2
''Live Phish Vol. 2'' was recorded live on July 16, 1994 and was released on September 18, 2001 as part of the Live Phish Series. The show was performed on the side of a ski slope at the Sugarbush Resort in the town of North Fayston, located in Phish's home state of Vermont. It was the final concert of the band's highly successful 1994 summer tour. Earlier in the year, the band had released its highest selling album to date ('' Hoist'') and the size of the Phish audience had expanded greatly by the summer. The Sugarbush concert, which included overnight camping on the ski slope under the stars, was slated as the grand finale of the tour. Vegas 96
''Vegas 96'' is a triple live album from the American jam band Phish, recorded live at the Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 6, 1996. In addition to the 3-CD set, a limited edition box version also includes a DVD with archival footage from the show and an extensive 40-page bound-book featuring photos and notes. The show features a large amount of extended improvisation on Phish classics such as "Harry Hood" and "Weekapaug Groove", as well as a cover of Frank Zappa's "Peaches en Regalia". The encore features a half-hour version of "Harpua" with guest appearances from Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde of the band Primus, John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, actor Courtney Gains from ''Children of the Corn'', a group of Elvis impersonators, and a pair known as the "Yodeling Cowgirls", who performed "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart", accompanied by John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on a pedal-steel guitar. Gamehendge
Gamehendge is the fictional setting for a number of songs by the rock band Phish. Most of the songs can be traced back to ''The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday'' (or TMWSIY), the senior project of guitarist and primary vocalist Trey Anastasio, written while he attended Goddard College in 1987. The recording of TMWSIY has been heavily circulated among fans and is considered by some to be an unreleased Phish album. Outside of the songs from ''TMWSIY'', there are numerous other songs set in the fictional universe of Gamehendge. Live Phish Volume 14
''Live Phish Vol. 14'' was recorded live at the Rosemont Horizon (now the Allstate Arena) in Rosemont, Illinois, near Chicago, on Halloween night, 1995. It marks the second of five Halloween shows in which Phish dressed up in a " musical costume" by performing an album from another artist in its entirety. The band, along with a horn section, unveiled a complete performance of The Who's ''Quadrophenia'', led by keyboardist Page McConnell, sandwiched in between two sets of Phish's own music. During their performance of "Harpua" Trey Anastasio told the story of Jimmy listening to his favorite album, which happened to be "the very same album that Phish was playing as their Halloween album at Rosemont Horizon that night." The Clifford Ball (DVD)
''The Clifford Ball'' is a seven-DVD box set released on March 3, 2009 by the rock band Phish. It was performed on August 16 and August 17, 1996 at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, NY, chronicling the first of ten Phish festivals. The collection received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package in 2009. Additional footage in this set includes documentaries, the soundcheck from August 15, and footage of the early morning performance of "The Flatbed Jam". Phish issued the entirety of ''The Clifford Ball'' on a 12 LP box set on March 4, 2022. The Flatbad Jam was also made available on a separate LP. The same day as the box set's release, the official audio recordings of the festival were also made available for digital purchase and streaming on the band's LivePhish website. ''Chicago '94'' is a live album by the rock band Phish. It contains two complete concerts on six CDs, and was recorded at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois on June 18 and November 25, 1994. It was released by JEMP Records on July 31, 2012. ''Live Phish Vol. 13'' was an album recorded live at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, New York on Halloween night, 1994. It was released on October 29, 2002, along with '' Volume 14'', '' Volume 15'', and '' Volume 16''. It marks the first of six Halloween shows in which Phish dressed up in a " musical costume" by performing an album from another artist in its entirety. The band took votes from fans via snail mail (50 votes), leading to a complete performance of the 30-song, self-titled Beatles double album, also known as ''the White Album'', sandwiched in between two sets of Phish's own music. The album's final number, "Good Night", is not included on this release, as it was not actually played by Phish, but rather the studio recording was played over the PA at the conclusion of the set. ''Colorado '88'' is a 3-Compact Disc, CD live album from the rock band Phish, recorded over several nights in summer 1988. Despite having only traveled outside Vermont occasionally, in the New England college and club circuit, Phish embarked on a tour in the west. The band played seven shows in ten days to tiny crowds in small bars and restaurants in the ski towns of Telluride, Colorado, Telluride and Aspen, Colorado, Aspen. "Champagne Supernova" is a song by English rock band Oasis, written by Noel Gallagher. It is the closing track on the band's second studio album, '' (What's the Story) Morning Glory?'' (1995), and was released as the sixth and final single from the album in Australia, France, and New Zealand on 13 May 1996. The Jam frontman Paul Weller appears as a guest guitarist and backing vocalist on the track. A music video for the song, directed by Nigel Dick, was released in 1996. "Suspicious Minds" is a 1968 song written and first recorded by American songwriter Mark James. After this recording failed commercially, it was cut by Elvis Presley with producer Chips Moman, becoming a No. 1 song in 1969, and one of the most memorable hits of Presley's career. I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart
"I Wanna Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" is a country and Western song written and first recorded in 1935 by Ruby Blevins, who performed as Patsy Montana. It was the first country song by a female artist to sell more than one million copies. Background and release Montana wrote the song in 1934 when she was feeling lonely and missing her boyfriend; it was recorded a year later when producer Art Satherley, of ARC Records, needed one more song at a Prairie Ramblers recording session. Montana was the group's soloist at the time. Her song is based on Stuart Hamblen's western song ''Texas Plains'': he is therefore credited as a cowriter. Patsy Montana embellished the simpler musical pattern of the original, especially with her yodeling. Patsy also used a lot of the original words: the song is somewhat of a feminine answer to its precursor. "Beat It" is a song by American singer Michael Jackson from his sixth studio album, '' Thriller'' (1982). It was written by Jackson and produced by Jackson and Quincy Jones. Jones encouraged Jackson to include a rock song on the album.
