''Vegas 96'' is a triple live album from the American jam band Phish, recorded live at the Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 6, 1996. In addition to the 3-CD set, a limited edition box version also includes a DVD with archival footage from the show and an extensive 40-page bound-book featuring photos and notes. The show features a large amount of extended improvisation on Phish classics such as "Harry Hood" and "Weekapaug Groove", as well as a cover of Frank Zappa's "Peaches en Regalia". The encore features a half-hour version of "Harpua" with guest appearances from Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde of the band Primus, John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, actor Courtney Gains from ''Children of the Corn'', a group of Elvis impersonators, and a pair known as the "Yodeling Cowgirls", who performed "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart", accompanied by John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on a pedal-steel guitar. Phish
Phish is an American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. The band is known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base. The band consists of guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman, and keyboardist Page McConnell, all of whom perform vocals, with Anastasio being the lead vocalist. The band was formed by Anastasio, Gordon, Fishman and guitarist Jeff Holdsworth, who were joined by McConnell in 1985. Holdsworth departed the band in 1986, and the lineup has remained stable since. Phish began to perform outside of New England in the late 1980s and experienced a rise in popularity in the mid 1990s. "You Enjoy Myself", commonly abbreviated to "YEM", is a Phish song written by Trey Anastasio, first played live on February 3, 1986. It is the band's most frequently performed song, having been played at about 33% of their first 1,800 shows. History Trey Anastasio wrote "You Enjoy Myself" while in Florence, Italy. The title came from an Italian man, befriended by Anastasio and Jon Fishman, who wrapped his arms around them near the Uffizi museum and exclaimed, "you know, when I am with you, you enjoy myself!" "Peaches en Regalia" is an instrumental jazz fusion composition by Frank Zappa. It was released on Zappa's album ''Hot Rats'' in 1969 and has been recorded many times since. Tom Marshall is an American lyricist, keyboardist and singer-songwriter best known for his association with Trey Anastasio and the rock band Phish. He has been the primary external lyricist for Phish during their career (1983–2004, 2009–present), with songwriting credits for more than 95 originals. In addition to his songwriting work, Marshall also fronts the rock band Amfibian and hosts the Phish podcast ''Under the Scales''.
