Harold Martens
Harold Arthur Martens (September 8, 1941 – January 8, 2023) was a Canadian rancher, farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Morse from 1982 to 1995 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative. Morse is a former provincial electoral division for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, centered on the town of Morse, Saskatchewan. The district was created before the 3rd Saskatchewan general election in 1912, and abolished before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995. It was the riding of Premier Ross Thatcher. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan is a conservative political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Prior to 1942, it was known as the Conservative Party of Saskatchewan. Herbert is a town located in the Rural Municipality of Morse No. 165, in southwest Saskatchewan, Canada. The community is 48 km east of the city of Swift Current, and 197 km west of Regina the provincial capital, on the Trans-Canada Highway. Its population as of 2016 was 856. Swift Current is the fifth largest city in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
