Juliet Linda Harmer (born 11 May 1941) is an English artist, children's author and actress who was best known in the role of Georgina Jones in the BBC TV series ''Adam Adamant Lives!'' (1966–67). Early career Juliet Harmer trained as a Primary school teacher specialising in Art. After leaving college, she taught for two years before becoming a presenter in BBC schools television. She returned to painting and working with children when her first daughter was born, and she moved to the Cotswolds in 1970. Early life Born in Staples Road, Loughton, Essex, the youngest of four daughters, she was raised in Bognor Regis, a seaside resort in West Sussex, England, where she attended a convent school. She left school aged 15 to pursue a career in hairdressing. Aviation career Harmer's first experience in the aviation industry was five years later when she left hairdressing to become an air traffic controller at London Gatwick Airport. Frederic William Harmer FGS, FRMetS (24 April 1835 – 24 April 1923) was an English amateur geologist, palaeontologist, and naturalist. He was born in Norwich and was educated at Norwich Grammar School. Harmer was the mayor of Norwich in 1887–1888 and served there as an alderman from 1880 to 1902. After about a decade of inactivity in geological work, he presented in 1895 at the meeting of the British Association at Ipswich two important papers on the Coralline and Red Crags. From 1895 until his death, he actively pursued field work in geology. He was awarded the Murchison Medal in 1902. He made extensive investigations of the Pliocene and Pleistocene deposits in England's eastern and midland counties, as well as those deposits in Belgium and the Netherlands. John Reginald Harmer (11 August 1857 – 9 March 1944) was a long-serving Anglican bishop who served in two dioceses. Early life Harmer was born into a clerical family (his parents were George Harmer, Vicar of Maisemore, and Kate, née Kitching) and educated at Eton College and King's College, Cambridge. Ordained priest in 1884, he was a curate at Monkwearmouth before becoming Vice-Principal of the Clergy Training School in Cambridge. From 1892, he was Dean of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge before appointment to the colonial episcopate with his election as Bishop of Adelaide in March 1895. He was consecrated a bishop in Westminster Abbey and 23 May and was enthroned at St Peter's Cathedral, Adelaide on 4 July 1895. In 1905, he was translated back to England when he was elected Bishop of Rochester. Florence Elizabeth Harmer FBA (14 May 1890 – 5 August 1967) was an English historian, specializing in the Anglo-Saxon period. Translating from Old English and Latin, she edited a number of primary sources for early English history, and her ''Anglo-Saxon Writs'' (1952) remains a standard text. Sir Sidney Frederic Harmer, KBE, FRS (9 March 1862 – 22 October 1950) was a British zoologist. He was President of the Linnean Society 1927–1931 and was awarded the Linnean Medal in 1934. Sidney Harmer was Superintendent of the Cambridge University Museum of Zoology from 1892–1908, Keeper of Zoology at the Natural History Museum from 1909 to 1921 and director of the Museum from 1919 to 1927. Harmer Hill
Harmer Hill is a village in Shropshire, England located on the A528 south of Wem and north of Shrewsbury. The name Harmer comes from the two words "hare" and "mere", as there was a lake situated in a plain below the hill, but it was drained in the 15th century for farm land. The village was home to two pubs, the ''Bridgewater Arms'' and the ''Red Castle''; the ''Red Castle'' closed in 2018. There is a village hall and Presbyterian chapel with its own burial ground. Harmer Hill is said to be haunted, notably by a "White Lady". Queen Mary's brother, the Marquess of Cambridge, lived at nearby Shotton Hall from after World War I until his death in 1927.Obituary.
