Haren Prison
Haren Prison or Gevangenis Haren is a new prison in Haren in the northeastern part of Brussels, Belgium. It is from Brussels-South railway station, and is near Brussels Airport, Vilvoorde Viaduct and the planned Uplace shopping centre in Machelen. It is said to be the largest prison complex ever built in Belgium, and is intended to replace the old , and . Three cell wings in Saint-Gilles will remain in use until the end of 2024. The women's prison in Berkendael is being converted into a detention centre for about 60 short-term prisoners (imprisonment less than three years). Haren (Dutch and French, sometimes written ''Haeren'' in French) is an old municipality of Brussels in Belgium, that was merged into the municipality of the City of Brussels in 1921. Édouard Ducpétiaux
Antoine Édouard Ducpétiaux (29 June 1804, Brussels – 21 July 1868, Brussels) was a Belgian journalist and social reformer. In 1827 he obtained his doctorate from the University of Ghent, being admitted to the bar in Brussels during the following year. He quickly became known as an opponent of the death penalty and fervent defender of freedom of the press. He played a significant role in the events of autumn 1830 during the Belgian Revolution. Ducpétiaux was a leading figure in regards to demands made for an immediate break from the Netherlands along with the creation of a provisional government. He served as president of the "Réunion centrale" (Central Assembly), and for a period of time was imprisoned in Antwerp by Dutch authorities (being released on 11 October 1830). Cast-in-place Concrete
Cast-in-place concrete or Cast-in-situ concrete is a technology of construction of buildings where walls and slabs of the buildings are cast at the site in formwork. This differs from precast concrete technology where slabs are cast elsewhere and then brought to the construction site and assembled. It uses concrete slabs for walls instead of bricks or wooden panels, and formwork is used for both walls and roof. Greywater (or grey water, sullage, also spelled gray water in the United States) refers to domestic wastewater generated in households or office buildings from streams without fecal contamination, i.e., all streams except for the wastewater from toilets.
