''Hard Reset'' is the seventh studio album by American metalcore band The Word Alive. The album was released on August 25, 2023, through Thriller Records and was produced by Hiram Hernandez. It is the first release from the band under Thriller Records. This is the first album to feature guitarist Jose DelRio and drummer Daniel Nelson, and the last album with founding guitarist Zack Hansen, who left in 2024. Background and promotion On November 16, 2022, The Word Alive released a video teaser for their new song "Nocturnal Future", available on November 17. On that day, the band officially unveiled the single and its corresponding music video. In addition, the band also announced that they had parted ways with Fearless Records and signed with Thriller Records. The Word Alive
The Word Alive is an American metalcore band formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2008. The band was signed to Fearless Records since their formation. In 2022, they changed their label and signed to Thriller Records. The band currently consists of vocalist Tyler Smith and guitarist Zack Hansen. The group has had several line-up changes throughout their career, with Hansen as the only remaining founding member. Their second EP, ''Empire'' reached No. 15 on the Top Heatseekers, meeting a great amount of positive acclaim upon its release in 2009. The following year, the group recorded and released their debut studio album, '' Deceiver'' on August 31, 2010, which reached No. 97 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and 15 on Independent Albums. ''Monomania'' (stylized as ''MØNØMANIA'') is the sixth studio album by American metalcore band The Word Alive. It was released on February 21, 2020, through Fearless Records. It was produced by the band themselves and Erik Ron. It is the last album to feature the band's drummer Matt Horn and founding guitarist Tony Pizzuti before they left the band in October 2021. It is also their last album to be released on this label before the band signed to Thriller Records in 2022. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Noah Sebastian (born October 31, 1995) is an American singer best known as the lead singer of the rock band Bad Omens. He is also the group's main songwriter and producer alongside guitarist Joakim Karlsson. Career At age 12, Noah Sebastian joined an Enter Shikari cover band. Inspired by the bands The Plot in You and Beartooth, at the age of 16 he began learning how to produce and compose music. In 2013, he left the band he played as a guitarist in Washington, D.C. and formed Man Vs. Self, later renamed Bad Omens. Craig Edward Mabbitt (born April 9, 1987) is an American singer-songwriter and recording artist. He is the lead vocalist for American rock band Escape the Fate. He was formerly the lead vocalist for the bands Blessthefall and The Word Alive. He is also the current lead vocalist of his side-project band, The Dead Rabbitts. Early life In his early childhood, Mabbitt required the frequent and scheduled use of a nebulizer as a result of severe asthma. Matthew Aaron Good (born February 11, 1984) is an American musician, singer and record producer. He is best known for being the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and the only constant member of the post-hardcore band From First to Last from its conception in 1999 until now. He was formerly the guitarist of grindcore band The Color of Violence, which featured future From First to Last members Travis Richter, Derek Bloom, and Joey Antillon. He joined Chiodos vocalist Craig Owens' band, D.R.U.G.S., eventually moving on to produce music under the name Kit Fysto with friend AJ Calderon.
