Haras La Quebrada
Haras La Quebrada (1945–2022) was a Thoroughbred racehorse breeding and training farm in Argentina. History Haras La Quebrada was founded by Hernán Ceriani Cernadas in 1945. The name was inspired by his son, Hernán Rodolfo Ceriani Cernadas, when at the age of twelve, he fell off a polo horse and was severely injured, including a broken Mandible, jawbone and nose. The new farm was named in honor of the accident. Hernán Ceriani I first went to the races in 1909 and fell in love with the spot. He started his first stable, Stud Pur Sang, in 1913 before acquiring the 20 Hectare, hectacres of Salvador María del Carril's estancia in Paso del Rey to start breeding at what would become Haras La Quebrada. Two mares and the stallion Malney, by Tresiete, were purchased. In 1947, Hernán Ceriani purchased a new property in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Pilar that was either 400 or 500 hectacres. Horse breeding is reproduction in horses, and particularly the human-directed process of selective breeding of animals, particularly purebred horses of a given breed. King's Stand Stakes
The King's Stand Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. History The event was created as a result of bad weather at Royal Ascot in 1860. Heavy rain made it impossible to run the Royal Stand Plate over its usual distance of 2 miles, so it was shortened to 5 furlongs on the only raceable part of the course. The amended version was called the Queen's Stand Plate, and it subsequently became the most important sprint at the Royal meeting. For a period it was open to horses aged two or older. It was renamed the King's Stand Stakes following the death of Queen Victoria and the accession of King Edward VII in 1901. Southern Halo (1983–2009) was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In his racing career he ran twenty-four times, winning five races and finishing second in the Grade I Swaps Stakes and Super Derby. He is chiefly notable for his remarkable career at stud where he was leading sire in Argentina on ten occasions and the sire of 170 stakes winners, including 56 Group/Grade I winners, and 16 champions. Buckpasser (1963–1978) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who was the 1966 Horse of the Year. His other achievements include 1965 Champion Two-Year-Old, 1966 Champion Three-Year-Old, 1966 Champion Handicap Horse, and 1967 Champion Handicap Horse.
