''Unsere schönsten Jahre'' is a German television series that originally aired from 1983 and 1985. Set in Munich, the show revolves around Elfi Ortlieb and Raimund Sommer, a newly in love couple. As Uschi Glas and Elmar Wepper also portray a married couple on ''Polizeiinspektion 1'' and '' Zwei Münchner in Hamburg'', they were considered one of German television's supercouples in the 1980s. Characters and general plot The main character, the "ewige Stenz" ("eternal dandy"), is the 50-year-old Munich early-retired police detective and man-about-town Franz Münchinger. He is called "Monaco Franze" after the Italian name of Munich, Bavaria. Münchinger, played by Helmut Fischer, lives with his wife Annette von Soettingen (Ruth Maria Kubitschek), an antiques shop owner, in Munich-Schwabing in happy marriage. He loves his city and he loves Annette, whom he affectionately calls "Spatzl". It was adapted from the novel ''The Nixon Recession Caper'' by Ralph Maloney and was produced for the German television station ARD. In 2016 it was remade under the same title for theatrical release. Plot Hartmut Wredel, a respected lawyer, is left unemployed by the recession. At his golf club he discovers that three other members have not paid their membership dues for a while.
