Harald Dal
Harald Dal (June 26, 1902 – June 4, 1972) was a Norwegians, Norwegian painter. After a lengthy education both in Norway and abroad, he debuted as a painter at an exhibition in Oslo's Kunstnerforbundet art gallery in 1927. Dal was born in Trondheim. He was especially active as a landscape painter and portrait painter. He received a number of grants and awards, and made a number of international trips to develop as an artist. He worked slowly and methodically, and has therefore left a limited artistic production. He had a close friendship and collaboration with Ingeborg Refling Hagen and her circle, and was one of the artists that decorated Stein School in Nes, Akershus, Nes, which is now a museum. Among other things, he painted a scene from the old Norse sagas in the hall at the school. The painting ''De eligerede mænd'' (The Elected Men) is considered Dal's chief work. Øistein Parmann
Øistein Parmann (10 March 1921 – 8 February 1999) was a Norwegian journalist, teacher, biographer and art historian. He served as the publishing director in Dreyers Forlag from 1975 until 1988. Background Parmann was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. His parents were Øistein Parmann (1883-1956) and Aud Petra Katharina Amundsen (1898-1976). His father operated a bookstore in Oslo. He grew up in Aker and graduated artium at Ullern in 1940. He then studied art history and literature at the University of Oslo. He was married in 1945 to physiotherapist Elsie Solveig Jacobsen. He died in February 1999 at Nesodden in Akershus. Career He made his literary debut in 1943 with ''Kanskje dette – Av en ung manns skissebok''. Haakon VII Of Norway
Haakon VII (; born Prince Carl of Denmark; 3 August 187221 September 1957) was the King of Norway from November 1905 until his death in September 1957. Originally a Danish prince, he was born in Copenhagen as the son of the future Frederick VIII of Denmark and Louise of Sweden. Prince Carl was educated at the Royal Danish Naval Academy and served in the Royal Danish Navy. After the 1905 dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway, Prince Carl was offered the Norwegian crown. Following a November plebiscite, he accepted the offer and was formally elected King of Norway by the Storting. He took the Old Norse name ''Haakon'' and ascended to the throne as Haakon VII, becoming the first independent Norwegian monarch since 1387. Oslo City Hall
Oslo City Hall ( no, Oslo rådhus) is a municipal building in Oslo, the capital of Norway. It houses the city council, the city's administration and various other municipal organisations. The building as it stands today was constructed between 1931 and 1950, with an interruption during the Second World War. It was designed by architects Arnstein Arneberg and Magnus Poulsson. The building is located in the city center, in the northern part of the Pipervika neighbourhood, and it faces Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall is built of red brick and has two towers, one 63 meters tall and other 66 meters tall. The bricks used are larger than what was typical at the time of construction, but are roughly the same size as bricks used in the Middle Ages. Nes is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Romerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Årnes. Name The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old ''Nes'' farm (Old Norse: ''Nes'' which means "headland"), since the first church was built here. The actual ''nes'' is the headland made by the two great rivers Glomma and Vorma, which have their meeting point just south of the farm. Prior to 1889, the name was spelled ''"Næs"''.
