Hansford Rowe is a fusion bass guitarist. Basically a self-taught musician, Rowe started his career in playing bass in a local New York City band in jazz clubs until he met drummer Pierre Moerlen Pierre Moerlen (23 October 1952, Colmar, Haut-Rhin – 3 May 2005, Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, near Strasbourg) was a French drummer and percussionist, best known for his work with Gong and Mike Oldfield and as Pierre Moerlen's Gong. Canterbury Scene
The Canterbury scene (or Canterbury sound) was a musical scene centred on the town of Canterbury, Kent, England during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Associated with progressive rock, the term describes a loosely-defined, improvisational style that blended elements of jazz, rock, and psychedelia. These musicians played together in numerous bands, with ever-changing and overlapping personnel, creating some similarities in their musical output. Find Me (Happy Rhodes Album)
Find Me is Happy Rhodes most recent studio album, released October 19, 2007. Rhodes collaborated with artists who made contributions to the album, these include guitarist Bon Lozaga and bassist Hansford Rowe of Gongzilla, bassist Carl Adami, guitarists Teddy Kumpel and Jon Catler and pianist Rob Schwimmer. Overview Rhodes’ 11th studio album to be released, the songs were originally recorded in 2001 but due to the costs of mastering, the album was not released on public sale until October 2007. There are currently no singles released from the album and Rhodes had made no claims to be releasing one. To assist with the costs of recording and producing the CD herself, Rhodes released a “sampler” disc to fans in 2005 which consisted of 8 tracks from the album. These discs were sold at Rhodes’ live performances in January 2005 at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, PA. The left over discs were sold on the Ecto mailing list, selling out quickly. Happy Rhodes (born Kimberley Tyler Rhodes, August 9, 1965) is an American singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and electronic musician with a four-octave vocal range, releasing 11 albums between 1986 and 2007. Family Rhodes' maternal grandfather Dave Stamper wrote songs for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1913 through 1931 and composed the music for several other Broadway shows. A family legend claims that Stamper wrote the well-known song "Shine On, Harvest Moon" in 1903 for Nora Bayes when he was working as her Vaudeville piano accompanist, but sold the rights and credit to Bayes and her husband Jack Norworth.
