Hans Riddervold
Hans Riddervold (7 November 1795 – 20 July 1876) was a Norwegian priest and politician. Personal life He was born at Teien in Åsgårdstrand as a son of shipmaster Adolf Kvernheim Riddervold (1760–1817) and Bredine Bolette Nielsen (1773–1811). He was the father of Julius Riddervold, who in turn was a grandfather of Hans Julius Riddervold. Hans Riddervold's daughter Bodil Mathea married Cato Guldberg and the daughter Mette Marie Riddervold married Peter Andreas Jensen. Hans Riddervold married Anna Maria Bull (1803–1870) in June 1822. She was a younger sister of Cato Guldberg's mother Hanna Sophie Theresia Bull, making Cato and Bodil Mathea first cousins. Career He received his Cand.theol. degree in 1819. Cato Guldberg
Cato Maximilian Guldberg (11 August 1836 – 14 January 1902) was a Norwegian mathematician and chemist. Guldberg is best known as a pioneer in physical chemistry. Background Guldberg was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the eldest son of Carl August Guldberg (1812–92) and Hanna Sophie Theresia Bull (1810–54). He was the brother of nurse and educator Cathinka Guldberg as well as mathematician Axel Sophus Guldberg. He attended Aug. Holths private latinskole in Christiania. Guldberg studied mathematics and physics at the University of Christiania and took his diploma in 1859. That same year he received the Crown Prince's gold medal (''Kronprinsens gullmedalje'') for a dissertation in pure mathematics. Poul Christian Holst
Poul Christian Holst (21 January 1776 – 7 August 1863) was a Norwegian government official who held several positions in the period 1814–1848. Holst led negotiations over debt with Denmark in 1817, after the dissolution of the union between the two countries in 1814. Biography Holst was born at Røyken in Buskerud, Norway. He was the son of parish priest Christian Holst (1743–1824) and Marthe Grønbech (1743–1886). He studied both theology and law at the University of Copenhagen from which he graduated in 1798. Hans Jørgen Darre
Hans Jørgen Darre (27 September 1803 – 11 March 1874) was a Norwegian clergyman and Bishop of Nidaros. Darre was born at Klæbu in Søndre Trondhjem, Norway. He was the son of the vicar in Klæbo and constitutional founding father, Jacob Hersleb Darre. He graduated as cand.theol. in 1827 and succeeded his father as vicar in Klæbu in 1833. He was the dean in the district of Dalerne from 1843 to 1848, and in March 1849 he took over as Bishop of the Diocese of Trondhjem (Nidaros). He retired in 1860 with a 1000 speciedaler pension. In 1872, he moved to a town near the Spanish-Portuguese border, where his daughter's husband worked in a mine. Hans Jørgen Darre died in Miraflores, Spain during 1874, his body brought back to Norway in December 1883. In Throndhjem, he was a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. Peder Olivarius Bugge
Peder Olivarius Bugge (2 December 1764 – 6 December 1849) was a Norwegian priest and politician. He was the bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros from 1804 until 1842. Biography Peder Olivarius Bugge was born at Holt, Aust-Agder, Holt in Aust-Agder, Nedenes county, Norway. He was the son of the parish priest Søren Bugge (1721–94) and Gidsken Edvardine Røring (1724–93). After four years of schooling in Bergen, he attended Kristiansand Cathedral School. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen (cand.theol. 1786, Magister degree, magister 1787). He was a priest in various parishes in Sjælland, Jylland, and Vest-Agder, Lista before being appointed to the post of Bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros, Diocese of Trondhjem when he was only 40 years old in 1804. Medal For Outstanding Civic Service
The Medal for Outstanding Civic Service or ''Medaljen for Borgerdåd'' is the second highest ranked Norwegian medal. In spring 2004 the medal ceased to be awarded. The medal was first established by Royal Resolution April 10, 1819 and later altered by Royal Resolution April 13, 1844. It was awarded by the cabinet meeting presided over by the King after a recommendation by the Norwegian Ministry of Justice. It is divided into two grades: the first class is in gold and the second class is in silver.
