Hans Næss (architect)
Hans Pedersen Næss (October 1723 – 3 January 1795) was a Danish architect. He was one of a generation of Neoclassical architects educated under Nicolas-Henri Jardin and Caspar Frederik Harsdorff; he mainly designed manor houses. Biography His exact date of birth remains unknown, but Hans Næss was born the son of a farmer at Næs on the island of Funen near Assens, Denmark. He was baptized on 24 October 1723. He worked as a notary at the Brahesborg estate and then for three years as a local functionary at Assens Town Hall before travelling to Copenhagen, where he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. There he studied under Nicolas-Henri Jardin and won the large silver medal in 1758, the small gold medal in 1760 and 1762, and then finally, the large gold medal in 1763. After completing his education, he taught geometry and perspective at the Academy of Arts from 1765 to 1782 and worked for Harsdorff. Krengerup Manor
Krengerup is a Neoclassical manor house located near Glamsbjerg some northeast of Assens on the Danish island of Funen. History and architecture The first references to Krengerup are from 1514 but the estate seems to be older. Since 1770, it has belonged to the Rantzau family. It was the principal property on a large estate which included Søholm and Brahesholm. In 1590, Gabriel Knudsen Akeleye built a thatched half-timbered house on the site of today's mansion. The property exchanged hands several times until Count Christian Rantzau Christian Rantzau (23 January 1684 – 16 April 1771) was a Danish nobleman and civil servant. Kongens Nytorv ( lit. "The King's New Square") is a public square in Copenhagen, Denmark, centrally located at the end of the pedestrian street Strøget. The largest square of the city, it was laid out by Christian V in 1670 in connection with a major extension of the fortified city, and has an equestrian statue of him at its centre. The initiative moved the centre of the city from the medieval area around Gammeltorv, at that time a muddy medieval marketplace, to a cobbled new square with a garden complex, inspired by the Royal city planning seen in Paris from the early 17th century. Lihme House
The Lihme House (Danish: Lihmes Gård) is a Neoclassical property located at Kongens Nytorv 18 in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Restaurant Feist is located in the ground floor of the building while the IT consultancy Nine occupies the upper floors. The building was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918 but delisted on 20 September 2016. History The building was constructed in 1768 for ''Akvavit''-distiller Christian Rasmussen Lihme. It is believed that the architect was Hans Næss (1723–1795). The actor Adolph Rosenkilde was between 1852 and 1860 one of the residents in the building. He was from 1856 associated with the Royal Danish Theatre on the other side of the square.
