Hans Josephsohn
Hans Josephsohn (May 1920 - 20 August 2012) was a Swiss sculptor who lived and worked in Zurich. Josephsohn was born in Königsberg (today's Kaliningrad), East Prussia. Here he attended elementary school and completed high school in 1937. That same year, he left his homeland and moved to Florence with a small scholarship, in order to study art. Due to his Jewish ancestry, he had to leave Italy a short time later and fled to Switzerland. He arrived in Zurich in 1938 and became a student of the sculptor Otto Müller. In 1943 Josephsohn moved into his first atelier, and starting in 1964 began showing his works in various solo shows within Switzerland. He acquired Swiss citizenship in 1964. Josephsohn's works began to attract the attention of a larger audience at the end of the 1990s. The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam dedicated a large solo exhibition to the artist in 2002. Kloster Allerheiligen (All Saints abbey) is a former Benedictine monastery in the Swiss municipality of Schaffhausen in the Canton of Schaffhausen. Galerie Max Hetzler is a gallery for contemporary art with locations in Berlin, Paris and London. History The Galerie Max Hetzler was founded in Stuttgart in 1974. In 1981, the gallery presented the first exhibitions of Martin Kippenberger and Albert Oehlen. In 1983 the gallery moved to Cologne, the centre of the contemporary art scene in Germany at the time, and pursued a programme with some of the most significant German and American artists from the 80's. From 1989 until 1992, Max Hetzler partnered with Luhring Augustine Gallery on establishing Luhring Augustine Hetzler in Los Angeles. The space was located in a refurbished building at 1330 4th Street in Santa Monica. Max Hetzler moved to Berlin in 1993, inaugurating a space in Charlottenburg in 1994. ArtZuid
ARTZUID is an international large-scale sculpture exhibition which takes place every two years in Amsterdam. ARTZUID was established in 2008. The initiative came from United Art Consult led by Cintha van Heeswijck. From 2009 on, the exhibition takes place every odd year in the monumental Art-Deco district in Amsterdam, designed in 1917 by Hendrik P. Berlage. ARTZUID sculpture route starts at the Museum Square in front of the Rijksmuseum and stretches for 2,5 kilometers south along the Minervalaan, the Apollolaan and finally up to the Station Zuid. Over a period of 4 months, 60 sculptures of established and emerging artists form an eye-catching spectacle. Kunsthalle Basel is a contemporary art gallery in Basel, Switzerland. Aargauer Kunsthaus (English: ''Aargauer Art House'') a Swiss art museum founded in 1959, and located in Aarau. The museum collection includes Swiss art from the 18th-century to the present day; and ''Naturama'', a natural history collection.
