Hans Jacob Biørn Lian
Hans Jacob "Jakken" Biørn Lian (born 31 March 1942) is a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Oslo and was educated at University of Neuchâtel. He started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1967. He headed the Norwegian delegation that negotiated the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. He was then a deputy under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 1994, the Norwegian ambassador to the United Nations in New York City from 1994 to 1997, and Norway's Permanent Representative to NATO from 1997 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004 he was a special advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, tasked with monitoring the Middle East peace process. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. Svein Sevje
Svein Reidar Sevje (born 29 October 1948) is a Norwegian diplomat, particularly known for his work in the Middle East. A few months after the Six Day war Sevje volunteered in the Israeli kibbutz of Mishmar HaEmek, and later joined a Hebrew school. He is a trained historian, and graduated in 1977 from the University of Oslo. Working for the Norwegian Foreign Service for several years, Sevje advanced in 1992 to become assistant secretary. He then headed the Foreign Ministry's Africa section from 1993-1994, and the Middle East section from 1998-2002. He was stationed in Israel during the Norwegian role in subsequent deals regarding the Oslo Accords known as "Oslo 2", and earlier in 1995 was the first diplomatic representative of Norway to The Palestinian Authority. Mona Juul (born 10 April 1959) is an official in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former politician for the Labour Party. Juul hails from Sparbu, and was educated in political science. She played a key role facilitating the Oslo Accords in the 1990s. On 25 July 2019, Juul was elected President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Kai Eide
Kai Aage Eide (born 28 February 1949 in Sarpsborg) is a Norwegian diplomat and writer. He was appointed the United Nations Special Representative to Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on 7 March 2008, a position he held until March 2010 when Staffan de Mistura took over. Eide has previously served as the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General in Kosovo in 2005. His report to the Secretary General of the United Nations on the political situation in former Serbian province of Kosovo resulted in the launching of the negotiations that ultimately brought about a controversial and disputed unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo in 2008.
