Hans Funck
Hans Funck (7 March 1953 – 16 July 2014) was a German film editor. He was most closely associated with director Oliver Hirschbiegel, having edited all but one of the films Hirschbiegel made between 1998 and 2013. These include ''Das Experiment'' (2001), '' Downfall'' (2004), '' The Invasion'' (2007), ''Five Minutes of Heaven'' (2009) and '' Diana'' (2013). Funck was Katja von Garnier's editor on the 1997 road movie ''Bandits'' and the 2004 drama ''Iron Jawed Angels''. Funck also frequently worked with director Marc Rothemund, most notably on 2005's ''Sophie Scholl – The Final Days''. Funck's other notable credits include Stefan Ruzowitzky's 2003 thriller ''Anatomy 2'', Robert Schwentke's 2003 black comedy '' Eierdiebe (The Family Jewels)'', and Sönke Wortmann's ''Pope Joan''. Funck died of an apparent asthma attack at his apartment in Munich on 16 July 2014. Sophie Scholl – The Final Days
''Sophie Scholl – The Final Days'' (german: Sophie Scholl – Die letzten Tage) is a 2005 German historical drama film directed by Marc Rothemund and written by Fred Breinersdorfer. It is about the last days in the life of Sophie Scholl, a 21-year-old member of the anti-Nazi non-violent student resistance group the White Rose, part of the German Resistance movement. She was found guilty of high treason by the People’s Court and executed the same day, 22 February 1943. The film was presented at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2005 and won Silver Bear awards for Best Director and Best Actress (Julia Jentsch). It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Deutsche Filmakademie
The Deutsche Filmakademie is an independently run organization with a focus on filmmaking in Germany. It was founded in 2003 in Berlin as a way to provide native filmmakers a forum for discussion and a way to promote the reputation of German cinema through publications, presentations, discussions, and regular promotion of the subject in schools. Since 2005, the winners of the Deutscher Filmpreis (colloquially known as the Lolas) are elected by the members of the Deutsche Filmakademie. The academy is financed by membership dues of full members, honorary members, associate members, and friends. Full members must be recommended by at least two filmmakers who have applied for full membership and have been accepted. All winners of the Deutscher Filmpreis automatically get a full membership. Mika Juhani Kaurismäki (; born 21 September 1955) is a Finnish film director. Biography Mika Kaurismäki is the elder brother of Aki Kaurismäki, and the father of Maria Kaurismäki, who graduated from Tampere School of Art and Media in 2008 with her movie ''Sideline''. Kaurismäki has lived in Brazil since approximately 1992 and has made several Brazilian-themed films, including ''Amazon'', ''Tigrero'', ''Sambólico'', ''Rytmi'', and ''Moro no Brasil''. Asthma
Asthma is a long-term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs. It is characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction, and easily triggered bronchospasms. Sönke Wortmann
Sönke Wortmann (; 25 August 1959 in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German film director and producer. Biography Wortmann's father was a miner. After Wortmann's A-Levels he wanted to become a professional football player and started playing with Westfalia Herne and later SpVgg Erkenschwick in the German 3rd division. After three years he gave up the idea of becoming a professional football player. One semester he studied sociology before entering the University of Television and Film Munich to study film directing. After spending some time at the London Royal College of Art he finished his career successfully. While studying, he worked as a taxi driver and actor, for example in the TV series ''Die glückliche Familie''. His debut feature film ''Der bewegte Mann'' was released in 1994.
