Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen
Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen, also known as HKKS (born 23 July 1965), is a Norwegian percussion and cimbalom player, Career Born in Oslo, Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen started to play music at the age of seven and grew up playing percussion, piano and tuba. He studied percussion at the Norwegian Academy of Music. After a short period as principal percussionist in Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (1989) and later Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (1990–91), he went on to study at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Canada and at the Conservatoire National de Région Versailles with Sylvio Gualda, where he obtained the Prix de Perfectionnement à l'unanimité. He is also a prizewinner from CIEM-competition in Geneva 1992. He has worked with composers like Henrik Hellstenius, George Crumb, Rolf Wallin, Brett Dean, Svante Henryson, Åse Hedstrøm and Per Nørgård, who dedicated to him the piece "Isternia" for cimbalom solo in 2010. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Philharmonia Orchestra
The Philharmonia Orchestra is a British orchestra based in London. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Legge, a classical music record producer for EMI. Among the conductors who worked with the orchestra in its early years were Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler and Arturo Toscanini; of the Philharmonia's younger conductors, the most important to its development was Herbert von Karajan who, though never formally chief conductor, was closely associated with the orchestra in the late 1940s and early 1950s. John Surman
John Douglas Surman (born 30 August 1944) is an English jazz saxophone, bass clarinet, and synthesizer player, and composer of free jazz and modal jazz, often using themes from folk music. He has composed and performed music for dance performances and film soundtracks. Life and career Surman was born in Tavistock, Devon, England. He initially gained recognition playing baritone saxophone in the Mike Westbrook Band in the mid-1960s, and was soon heard regularly playing soprano saxophone and bass clarinet as well. His first playing issued on a record was with the Peter Lemer Quintet in 1966. After further recordings and performances with jazz bandleaders Mike Westbrook and Graham Collier and blues-rock musician Alexis Korner, he made the first record under his own name in 1968. Michail Jefimowitsch Alperin (Ukrainian: Миха́йло Юхи́мович Альпе́рін; 7 November 1956 – 11 May 2018) was a Soviet-Norwegian jazz pianist, known as a key member of the Moscow Art Trio. AllMusic.com Biography Alperin was born in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukrainian SSR to a Jewish family. He was educated in Khmelnytskyi, Bălți and Chișinău. In 1980, he formed one of the first jazz ensembles in Moldavian SSR. He moved to Moscow in the 1980s and founded the ''Moscow Art Trio'' with Arkady Shilkloper and folk singer Sergey Nikolaevich Starostin. He has also worked with Huun Huur Tu. From 1993 to 2018 he lived in Oslo, Norway; he was professor of music at the Norwegian Academy of Music and he supervised pianist Helge Lien and Morten Qvenild among others. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. BIS Records is a record label founded in 1973 by Robert von Bahr. It is located in Åkersberga, Sweden. The BIT20 Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble from Bergen, Norway, founded in 1989. It was formed in the merger of the quartet, Bit4, and Ensemble 20. The ensemble has headquarters at Grieghallen. During its history, BIT20 Ensemble has performed more than 400 works and the ensemble serves as an important Nordic platform for new music, commissioning over 100 original works that have premiered internationally. The Swedish Chamber Orchestra ( sv, Svenska kammarorkestern) is a Swedish orchestra based in Örebro. Established under its current name in 1995, its primary concert venue is the Örebro Concert Hall. The historical precursor ensembles to the orchestra included the ''Harmonic Society'' (Harmoniska sällskapet), which was active from 1831 to 1837.
