Hannans, Western Australia
Hannans is a residential suburb of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, a city in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. At the 2016 census it had a population of 2,546 people, up from 2,483 in 2011. Hannans is named after Paddy Hannan, the prospector whose discovery of gold in 1893 led to the initial rush. The name Hannans (shortened from Hannan's Camp) originally referred to the Kalgoorlie townsite, and it was only much later in the city's history that it was applied to the current suburb. Geography Hannans contains Kalgoorlie-Boulder's northernmost dwellings, which are located around from the Kalgoorlie town centre. The suburb is roughly diamond-shaped, with large areas of uncleared bushland in the north and east. Electoral District Of Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district includes not only the town of Kalgoorlie, but significant parts of the outback in central and eastern Western Australia. Long a Labor stronghold, the district was lost to the Liberal Party at the 2001 state election. The new Liberal member, Matt Birney, was re-elected at the 2005 state election but the district has changed hands at every election since then. History The district of Kalgoorlie was first created for the 1901 state election and has continued to exist as an electorate ever since. Over its first 100 years it was always represented by the Labor Party with the exception of two interruptions between 1905 and 1911 and 1921 and 1923. It is one of Western Australia's three rural seats, and one of the largest electoral constituencies in the world. Karlkurla is a locality in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It is a suburb of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. At the 2016 census, Karlkurla had a population of 177 people, up from 42 in 2011. Mullingar is a locality in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It is a suburb of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. At the 2016 census, Mullingar had a population of 305 people, down from 343 in 2011. Geography Mullingar is wedge-shaped, with its northern boundary an east-west line approximately north of the Kalgoorlie town centre. Its western boundary runs north-northwest along the Leonora branch line of Eastern Goldfields Railway, while the eastern boundary of the locality runs north-east, roughly parallel to (and briefly along) Yarri Road.
