Hannah Fleming
Hannah Fleming (born 3 October 1991 in Dumfries) is a Scottish curler from Lockerbie. She is a former World junior champion skip. Career Youth Fleming began her junior career by winning a gold medal at the 2009 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, playing third for the Scottish team, skipped by Anna Sloan. Fleming skipped Scotland at two straight World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships, she led her rink of Lauren Gray, Alice Spence and Abi Brown to a 7-2 round robin record. In the playoffs, they knocked off the Czechs (skip: Zuzana Hajkova) twice to claim the gold medal. At the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, Fleming led her rink of Gray, Jennifer Dodds and Brown to an 8-1 round robin record. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Skip (curling)
In the sport of curling, the skip is the captain of a team. The skip determines strategy, and holds the broom in the ''house'' (target area) to indicate where a teammate at the other end of the curling ''sheet'' (playing area) should aim the stone. The skip usually throws the last two stones in the fourth position, but may play in any other position. Sometimes "skipper" is used; it can also be abbreviated as "S". It's also used as a verb ("skips", "skipped", "skipping"). It is conventional to identify a team by the name of the skip. Responsibilities Overall, the skip leads the team and provides strategic direction. The skip calls shots teammates to play, through verbal direction and physical gestures. Kerry Barr
Kerry Barr (born 20 August 1986) is a Scottish curler from Murrayfield. She is a former World Junior champion. Career As a junior curler, Barr played in her first World Junior Curling Championships in 2005, playing third for the Victoria Sloan rink. The team finished 7th in the tournament for Scotland. The following year, Barr was invited to be the alternate player for Scotland at the 2006 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, but she would not play in any games. In her final year of juniors, Barr played third on the Eve Muirhead rink at the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships. The team won the gold medal, defeating Sweden's Cecilia Östlund in the final. 2013 Winter Universiade
The 2013 Winter Universiade, the XXVI Winter Universiade, was a winter multi-sport event which took place in Trentino, Italy between 11 and 21 December 2013. This was the first time that a Winter Universiade happened after the Summer Universiade in same the year and in the end of the year and missing two months for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Alina Romanovna Kovaleva (russian: Алина Романовна Ковалёва; born 18 February 1993) is a Russian curler from Saint Petersburg. Her major achievement to date was winning the 2015 European Curling Championships as alternate. Kovaleva is Merited Master of Sports of Russia (2016). is a Japanese curler from Sapporo, Hokkaido. She is the skip of the FORTIUS curling team, which won the Japan Curling Championships in both 2015 and 2021. At the international level, she has represented Japan twice at the World Women's Curling Championship (, ) and two Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in and , winning the gold medal in 2021. Jennifer Carmichael "Jenn" Dodds (born 1 October 1991) is a Scottish curler. She currently plays mixed doubles with Bruce Mouat, representing Scotland and Great Britain. She is the 2022 Olympic champion in women's curling and the 2022 World champion in mixed doubles curling.
