Marja von Stedingk (born Marja Elfman 5 August 1972) is a Swedish freestyle skier. She was born in Hällefors. She competed at the 1998 Winter Olympics, in women's moguls. Elfman competed at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 1997, where she placed 9th in moguls. Giant Slalom
Giant slalom (GS) is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline. It involves skiing between sets of poles ("gates") spaced at a greater distance from each other than in slalom but less than in Super-G. Giant slalom and slalom make up the technical events in alpine ski racing. This category separates them from the speed events of Super-G and downhill. The technical events are normally composed of two runs, held on different courses on the same ski run. Course The vertical drop for a GS course must be for men, and for women. The International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup is the premier circuit for alpine skiing competition. The inaugural season launched in January 1967, and the season marks the 57th consecutive year for the FIS World Cup. This season started in October 2022 in Sölden, Austria, and is intended to conclude in mid-March 2023 at the finals in Soldeu, Andorra. Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin are the defending overall champions from the 2021–22 season. The women's parallel competition in the 2022 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of only 1 event, a parallel giant slalom, due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The sole event was won by Andreja Slokar, who thus won the season championship. Because only one race was run, Slokar will not be awarded a crystal globe for winning this discipline. 2022 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Women's Downhill
The women's downhill in the 2022 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of nine events including the finals. Defending champion Sofia Goggia of Italy, who won four of the five downhills in which she competed in 2020–21, continued her domination in 2021–22 by again winning four of the first five downhills. Goggia took a commanding lead in the discipline after American Breezy Johnson, who finished second in each of the first three downhills, missed the rest of the season with a knee injury.
