Hanco Germishuys
Hanco Jacobus Germishuys (born August 24, 1996) is a South African born American rugby union player who plays as a flanker for the Houston SaberCats in Major League Rugby (MLR) and for the United States national rugby union team internationally. He previously played for Rugby United New York (RUNY) and the LA Giltinis in MLR. Germishuys has also represented the United States at the international level with multiple age-grade sides and with the USA Selects. Germishuys also previously played professionally for the Denver Stampede of PRO Rugby. Early life Hanco Germishuys was born on August 24, 1996 in South Africa. There, he began playing rugby at a young age and attended school in Newton. Germishuys relocated to the United States with his father in 2004 and attended Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska. 2018 Major League Rugby Season
The 2018 Major League Rugby season was the inaugural season of Major League Rugby, an annual rugby union competition sanctioned by USA Rugby. The seven inaugural teams were based in the United States. The competition began the weekend of April 21–22 with three matches, with New Orleans defeating Houston 35–26 to open the season. 2016 PRO Rugby Season
The 2016 PRO Rugby season was the inaugural and only season of the PRO Rugby, contested by teams from the United States. The season ran from April to July 2016. This was the first season of professional rugby union in North America. PRO Rugby contracted 102 players for its five teams. Of these 102 players, 54 have played international rugby, including 36 for the United States national rugby union team. About 30 players were picked from Pacific Rugby Premiership teams and 15 from Midwest Rugby Premiership teams.
