Hamëz Jashari
Hamëz Jashari; sh-Latn, Hamaz Jašari (19 April 1950 – 7 March 1998) was a Kosovar Albanian combatant and the brother of Adem Jashari. He was also a commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). He accompanied his brother Adem during the Kosovo War, in 1998. On 30 December 1991, when the brothers were at home in Prekaz, the Serbian police surrounded them in an attempt to arrest them, they managed to escape unharmed. Later, Adem and Hamëz started attacks against the Yugoslav Police. Finally, on 5 March 1998, Prekaz was attacked by Yugoslav police forces. Adem and Hamëz Jashari and approximately 58 members of their family were killed, after the refusal of Adem Jashari and his brothers to surrender. The sole survivor of the attack was Hamëz's then 11-year-old daughter, Besarta. Attack On Prekaz
The Attack on Prekaz, also known as the Prekaz massacre, was an operation led by the Special Anti-Terrorism Unit of Serbia on 5 March 1998, to capture Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighters deemed terrorists by Serbia. During the operation, KLA leader Adem Jashari and his brother Hamëz were killed, along with nearly 60 other family members. The attack was criticized by Amnesty International, which wrote in its report that: "all evidence suggests that the attack was not intended to apprehend armed Albanians, but to eliminate the suspects and their families." Serbia, on the other hand, claimed the raid was due to KLA attacks on police outposts. Jakup Krasniqi
Jakup Krasniqi (born 1 January 1951) is a Kosovo-Albanian politician and former acting President of Kosovo. He is former Chairman of the Assembly of Kosovo. In November 2020 he was arrested for charges of crimes against humanity and war crime filed before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. Early life Jakup Krasniqi was born near Glogovac, Kosovo to Albanian parents. He finished elementary school in his birthplace, Negroc, in 1965 while he finished high school in Prishtina in 1971. Adem Jashari
Adem Jashari (born Fazli Jashari; 28 November 1955 – 7 March 1998) was one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a Kosovo Albanian separatist militia which fought for the secession of Kosovo from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the 1990s. Beginning in 1991, Jashari participated in attacks against the Serbian police before travelling to Albania to receive military training. Arrested in 1993, he was released at the behest of the Albanian Army and later returned to Kosovo, where he continued launching attacks against the Yugoslav establishment. In July 1997, he was convicted of terrorism ''in absentia'' by a Yugoslav court. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture or kill him, Serbian police launched an attack against Jashari's home in Prekaz in March 1998. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanians, Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
