Hammarby IF Bandy
Hammarby IF Bandyförening is a Swedish bandy club from Södermalm, Stockholm, a section of the sports club Hammarby IF. Hammarby IF was founded under its present name in 1897 and has been playing bandy since 1905. The club currently play in Elitserien, which is the highest division in Sweden, and has won it twice. History Hammarby IF Bandy is one of the oldest bandy clubs in Sweden, founded in 1905 as a department of sports club Hammarby IF. At this time, there were several other Stockholm teams who also played bandy – AIK, IFK Stockholm, Djurgårdens IF, IF Swithiod and Djursholm. The different teams played friendly matches and local tournaments. In 1906, the Swedish Football Association took over the organization of bandy in Sweden. The Swedish championship premiered in 1907 but Hammarby IF failed to qualify for the play-offs until 1916. Elitserien (bandy)
The Elitserien (literally, the "Elite League") ( sv, Elitserien i bandy) is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018. Season structure During the regular season the fourteen teams play each other team at home and away - a total of 26 games per team. The top six teams directly qualify for the playoffs for the league championship, while the teams ranked from 7th to 10th enter an additional play-off to decide which teams take the other two championship play-off places. Hammarby IP
Hammarby IP (short for "''Hammarby Idrottsplats''", "Hammarby Sports Ground") also known as "Kanalplan", is a football stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. The current main tenant is the women's football team Hammarby IF. The stadium was officially opened by Gustaf VI Adolf, at the time the crown prince of Sweden in 1915. Zorky Krasnogorsk
Zorky (russian: Зоркий) is a bandy club based in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. Its team currently plays in the Russian Bandy Super League, the top tier of the Russian bandy championship. The club was founded in 1954. Zorky have had some recent successes and reached the finals of the Bandy World Cup, Russian Cup and Champions Cup in the 2006–07 season only to lose to Dynamo Moscow in all three matches. In 2009 they reached the World Cup final again, this time losing to Hammarby. In 2012, they won the World Cup. The team was the best team of the regular season of the Russian Bandy Super League 2012–13 but lost the final against Dynamo Moscow for the national championship. Sandvikens AIK (commonly known as SAIK) a sports club in Sandviken, Sweden. The bandy section plays its home games in the Göransson Arena in Sandviken. They play in a black outfit. History Sandvikens AIK was founded on 16 March 1901. Originally named IK Stjärnan, they were the home for the white-collar workers, while IK Kronan (later Sandvikens IF) was the home for blue-collar workers. Bandy World Cup
The Bandy World Cup is an international bandy competition played in Sweden at the beginning of the bandy season every year, in autumn. The participating teams qualify based on their results in the previous bandy season. The World Cup is not played by national teams but is for bandy clubs from around the world, and should therefore not be confused with the Bandy World Championship. It is usually considered to be "the world championship for clubs". The tournament has been dominated by Swedish and Russian teams. History The Bandy World Cup was held every year in Ljusdal in Sweden from 1974 to 2008, at the start of the bandy season in autumn. Västerås SK Bandy is the men's bandy side of the Swedish sports club Västerås SK, located in Västerås. The senior side currently plays in the Swedish Elitserien, the top division of Swedish bandy. SK Tirfing is a sports club in Skutskär in northern Uppland in Sweden. Established on 20 January 1923, the club won the Swedish national men's bandy championship in 1930. Skutskärs IF is a bandy club in Skutskär, Sweden. The formal name of the club is ''Skutskärs IF/Bandyklubb''. The team colours are green and yellow. History The club was formally founded in 1989, when the former Skutskärs IF of 1915 was split in two, one club for bandy and one for association football. In the first year of bandy league system in Sweden, 1930–31, Skutskär entered in Division 1 Norra together with AIK, Hammarby IF, IF Vesta, IFK Rättvik, IK Sirius, SK Tirfing, and Västerås SK and finished 3rd. IK Sirius is a Swedish bandy club located in Uppsala, currently playing in Elitserien. IK Sirius were formed in 1907 and play their home games at Studenternas Idrottsplats. History IK Sirius' first success was becoming Swedish runners-up in 1918, they followed this up by becoming Swedish champions twice in 1921 and 1922, but they then didn't have any more success in the league until 1926 where they were runners-up and they were also runners-up in 1928.
