Hamit Altıntop
Hamit Altıntop (; born 8 December 1982) is a Turkish former professional footballer and current board member of the Turkish Football Federation. He was a versatile midfielder who could play either in a defending or attacking role and on both flanks, known for his creative flair and long-range shooting ability. He is the identical twin brother of footballer Halil Altıntop, who was born 10 minutes after Hamit. Altıntop was part of the Turkey squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2008. After the tournament he was voted as part of the 23-man Team of the tournament awards. Hamit Kaplan (20 September 1934 – 5 January 1976) was a Turkish World and Olympic champion sports wrestler of Circassian descent in the Heavyweight class. He won the gold, silver and bronze medal in men's freestyle wrestling at three consecutive Olympic Games in 1956, 1960 and 1964. Born in Hamamözü town in Amasya Province, he began wrestling as a youngster in the traditional Turkish sport Yağlı güreş (oil wrestling). Soon, he switched over to sports wrestling and became juniors champion in the Heavyweight class. Hamit Kaplan was admitted to the national team in 1954 and was trained by the renowned wrestler Celal Atik for his skill. Hamit Karakus (born 22 February 1965) is a Turkish-Dutch politician, who has a seat in the Senate and previously served as an alderman in Rotterdam. He is a member of the Labour Party (PvdA). Born in Turkey, Karakus grew up in Steenwijk and later moved to Rotterdam to work as a police officer. After ten years of service and reaching the rank of police sergeant, he became deputy director of a real estate brokerage firm in 1998. Hamit Zübeyir Koşay ( ba, Абдулхәмит Зөбәйер Ҡушай; tt-Cyrl, Абдулхәмит Зөбәер Кушай; 1897 – 1984) was a Turkish archaeologist, ethnographer, writer, and folklore researcher. Biography He was the son of Ubeydullah Efendi who was a scholar of the period and Rizaetdin Fäxretdin (close friend of Musa Carullah) a famous scientist, was his brother-in-law. He was sent to Turkey with the support of Rizaetdin Fäxretdin for his education in 1909. He graduated from Thessalonica Central Secondary School in 1911. At the break of the Balkan War, he returned to Istanbul when he was in Sultaniye. He finished teacher training school in 1916 and became a teacher. After attending courses on ethnography and the Hungarian language at university for the winter semester, he went to Hungary to continue his education where he completed pedagogy.
