Bolte Ministry
The Bolte Ministry was a Ministry of the Government of Victoria, and was led by Liberal Premier Henry Bolte. It succeeded the Cain ministry on 7 June 1955, following the defeat of the Labor government at the 1955 election held ten days earlier. The ministry lasted over 17 years and was followed by the Hamer Ministry on 24 August 1972 after the resignation of Bolte from politics. Alan Scanlan
Alan Henry Scanlan (born 23 June 1931) is an Australian politician. He was born in Caulfield to commercial traveller Edward Daniel John Scanlan and Winifred Bernice Fowler. He attended Melbourne High School and Melbourne Teachers' College, and worked as a teacher in London from 1958 to 1959. On 16 December 1961 he married fellow teacher Shirley Jane Pope, with whom he had one son. He had joined the Liberal Party in 1952 and been president of the Victorian Young Liberals from 1959 to 1961. In 1961 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Oakleigh. Alan Hunt (politician)
Alan John Hunt AM (9 October 1927 – 19 July 2013) was an Australian politician, having been a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1961 until 1992. Hunt started his education in South Australia and later attended Melbourne Grammar School. He then went to the University of Melbourne where he was a non-resident law student at Trinity College. He was president of the Melbourne University Liberals from 1948–50 and secretary of the then National Union of Australian University Students. After obtaining a law degree he practised as a solicitor until entering the Legislative Council in 1961, representing the Liberal Party. Hunt was first appointed as a minister in 1971, under the premiership of Henry Bolte. Roberts Christian "Bob" Dunstan DSO (5 November 1922 – 11 October 1989) was an Australian soldier and aviator during the Second World War. He was notable, among other things, for: * serving with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as an air gunner, after losing a leg in action with the Australian Army; * being the youngest Australian recipient of the Distinguished Service Order (DSO), and; * being, at the time he was elected, the youngest ever member of the Legislative Assembly of Victoria.
