Hamburg U-Bahn Type DT4
The Type DT4 is a four-car electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the Hamburger Hochbahn AG on the Hamburg U-Bahn system since 1988. Formation Every DT4 train consists of four cars, which are formed as two articulated half-sets with two cars each. The cars don't have gangways, but feature windows in the inner car ends. Interior The interior consists of transverse seating bays. Widescreen passenger information displays are to be fitted to the whole DT4 fleet, with works scheduled to be completed in 2022. The Type DT5 is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the Hamburger Hochbahn AG on the Hamburg U-Bahn system. It is the first type of rolling stock on the Hamburg U-Bahn that has air conditioning and gangways between the individual cars. Formation Every DT5 train consists of three permanently-coupled cars. The cars are connected with gangways, allowing passengers to walk into the adjacent cars. Up to three units can be coupled together. Jacobs bogies (named after Wilhelm Jakobs,, 1858–1942, a German mechanical railway engineer) are a type of rail vehicle bogie commonly found on articulated railcars and tramway vehicles.
