Hamburg U-Bahn Type DT2
The Type DT2 is a two-car electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the Hamburger Hochbahn AG on the Hamburg U-Bahn until 2015. They replaced the Type T and Type TU. Technical specifications The first trains had a ''Bo'1+1 Bo axle layout, with later trains built to an articulated design, formed as two-car sets. Up to four sets can be coupled together to form a long train. The car body was constructed using lightweight steel, based on a design licensed from the American Budd Company. They are equipped with Kiepe-build quill drives. Interior Seating arrangement consists of seating bays in a 2+2 layout. Kiepe Electric GmbH (formerly Vossloh Kiepe) is a German manufacturer of electrical traction equipment for trams, trolleybuses other road and rail transport vehicles, as well as air-conditioning and heating systems, and conveyor device components. Hamburger Hochbahn AG
Hamburger Hochbahn AG (HHA), founded in 1911, operates the underground system and large parts of the bus system in Hamburg, Germany. History The HHA was founded by Siemens & Halske and AEG as a consortium on 27 May 1911. The first chairman was Albert Ballin. From 1919 until 1978, the HHA operated a large tram network, and from 5 December 1921 the HHA also operated the first motor buses in Hamburg. Electric current collectors are used by trolleybuses, trams, electric locomotives or EMUs to carry electrical power from overhead lines, electrical third rails, or ground-level power supplies to the electrical equipment of the vehicles. Those for overhead wires are roof-mounted devices, those for rails are mounted on the bogies. Typically, electric current connectors have one or more spring-loaded arms that press a collector or contact shoe against the rail or overhead wire. The Type A is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type formerly operated on the Hamburg U-Bahn system. They were the first type of subway cars in Hamburg, entering service on 15 February 1912, and were later designated as Type T. Some cars were converted to maintenance service cars. Budd Company
The Budd Company was a 20th-century metal fabricator, a major supplier of body components to the automobile industry, and a manufacturer of stainless steel passenger rail cars, airframes, missile and space vehicles, and various defense products. Budd was founded in 1912 in Philadelphia by Edward G. Quill Drive
A quill is a writing tool made from a moulted flight feather (preferably a primary wing-feather) of a large bird. Quills were used for writing with ink before the invention of the dip pen, the metal-Nib (pen), nibbed pen, the fountain pen, and, eventually, the ballpoint pen.
