Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah
Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah ( ar, حمد بن علي العطية) is a Qatari politician who served as the State Minister for Defense. He oversaw the deployment of Qatari forces during the Libyan Civil War as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. Career Al Attiyah has served as Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces since the 1990s. During the Libyan Civil War, which began in 2011, Al Attiyah revealed that Qatar had provided military and financial support to the Libyan rebels. He stated that "the numbers of Qataris on the ground were hundreds in every region". In June 2013, shortly after the ascension of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the throne, Al Attiyah was promoted to the State Minister for Defense. He signed a $11 billion arms deal with US Defense Minister Chuck Hagel in July 2014. As of 2015, he was president of the multi-sports club El Jaish SC. The First Libyan Civil War was an armed conflict in 2011 in the North African country of Libya that was fought between forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and rebel groups that were seeking to oust his government. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani ( ar, تميم بن حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني; born 3 June 1980, Doha, Qatar) is the Emir of Qatar who succeeded his father, Sheikh Hamad, after Hamad abdicated in his favour. Tamim is the fourth son of Emir Hamad bin Khalifa. He became heir apparent in 2003 when his older brother Sheikh Jassim renounced his claim to the throne. El-Jaish Sports Club ( ar, نادي الجيش الرياضي) was a Qatari multi-sports club from 2011 to 2017, based in the Al-Duhail area of Doha. The association football team played in the Qatar Stars League. The team won the Qatargas League prior to 2011, but were not eligible for promotion and as a result were not declared as the champions of the league. It was promoted to the first division, the Stars League, the first year after it was made eligible.
